  1. I thinks it’s going to be more like March been memorable due to the amount of snow during the cold spell as aposed to been the memorable winter of 2018. It’s more the memorable Cold spell of Feb/March 2018.. But in regards to that for me and my area I would definitely say it’s the best cold spell in the 2000s at least. I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen at least 1 heavy shower per hour for over 72hours I can’t remember a time given I was only young in the 80s early 90s that has ever happened. Thats over three days of not going 1 hour without a snow shower for that reason alone this will go down as the best cold spell I have personally witnessed and remembered.. and the snow is still hammering it down.
  2. We are getting hit hard at the moment dude it’s also hard to tell exactly how much snow we have up here as any untouched snow from Tuesday is blowing off the top and creating snow drifts against the walls but if I was to place a conservative figure on the depth I’d say a good 10” but I would put it closer to a foot with more snow throughout this morning forcast along with increasing winds i feel for the farmers up here and there life stock. I still don’t know what to think in regards to Storm Emma. If it reaches our region tomorrow evening into Saturday. If it does reach us even if it’s slightly lighter in nature the winds will continue to blow it around adding to the snow drifts and depths etc could become very serious indeed for this weekend and if we continue with the easterly flow into next week the amounts really could be insane.
  3. Obviously as you guys will be aware the north and north East have been getting absolutely Battered since Tuesday and this morning is no exception as heavy snow & increasing heavy winds is now bringing the increasing impact of snow drifts. My community on Addingham Moorside in West Yorkshire has been pretty much cut off since Tuesday. As Further heavy snow is forcast until at least dinner time today before a slight lull as SE winds kick in for a short time before shifting ENE again and bring more showers on Friday.. I would appreciate the opinions of some of the more experienced to give me there thoughts on the track of Storm Emma and how far north do you expect it to effect?? Thanks in advance.. YP.
  4. Well I definitely wasn’t expecting it to be this bad 5hours later.... It’s definitly the worst weather we have had since 2010 for the amount of snow and if this wind and snow keep up for a couple more hours its going to be on par with 2013 for snow drifts.. How we aren’t under an amber warning is beyond me. High winds, heavy Snow & 5ft snow drifts in places on higher routes with another 6 hours at least now forcast I’m in true amazement of how forcasts are changing so quickly..
  5. Showers are expected until about mid morning slowly becoming less frequent. Storm Emma is putting us into a bit of a lull as it pushes ever closer and works out what route it wants to take. Some runs are now favouring us keeping the cold well in to next week and the storm going through more to the south although obviously unclear. We will know more in the morning I guess.. ?
  6. For all you guys out there that have said over the last few days Easterlies are crap they never deliver etc. The fact of the matter is Easterlies are the best possible set up for our whole region. I know it’s more hit and miss with the showers etc but for the fact of continuous cold which builds up snow day after day you would be the unluckiest person our region not to get decent snow fall.. And this it’s only about 36hours in.. Just think if we was to have just 2weeks of this it would be on par with 63 & 47 which also unless my history is completely wrong came from the east..
  7. The winds are ENE in nature you will need showers coming from above hull to hit leeds which you will be happy to know are plentiful?
  8. Stocked lol.. Yes I noticed that there losing a little intensity but some of them to the south have gained strange.. However anything that drops is setting straight away even when the intensity drops they’ve still been quite heavy in nature. Up here they are anyway lol.
  9. I’d take the dump of snow then the cold pushes back... Not asking for much though lol
  10. I can’t believe all them little streamers that have set up I’ve never seen anything like it whoever is lucky enough to get in line of any of these is going to have a very interesting few hours into the morning before the Lull before the storm. Some guys could see another 4” by the morning if not slightly more... @wozafax it’s looking pretty good for us for the next few hours??
  11. Well it seems no one is prepared to give us a full forcast from Thursday afternoon onwards.. Must be some real uncertainties as to actual track of Storm Emma..
  12. If that run comes off West Yorkshire will be buried.. ??
  13. Yep I agree we just need to see how Storm Emma develops in the case of its track and how far it will push up but yes it looks like we hold on to the cold with further snow showers and potential battle grounds as systems try work into the uk.. ?
  14. The showers have the potential to blow up as the move inland as they’ve been doing all day ?
  15. I agree and you could be right however those forcasts were made before the shift slightly south including most the region in the warning area for Tonight /Tomorrow. So could that spell a slight shift in the heavier showers further south also? Time will tell I guess.
  16. Yes I said earlier it wouldn’t surprise me if the Amber warning extends further south. We will see I guess ?
  17. Don’t be worried about that at this stage in the day the sun is going down the temp is dropping so it will cool the ground further do any heavy showers that head for you and I hope they head for everyone will quickly build up.
  18. It’s a better set up for the northern half of our region?. I suspected the winds would shift again it’s been on the cards all day ?
  19. The North Sea looks like it’s pepping up to me off our east coast?? Where do you get it looks barren Reef?? I don’t expect the potential for heavy showers for our region to calm a little until mid to late morning tomorrow when the Storm Emma starts to enter onto our shores and starts squeezing the isobars as it moves up...
  20. Some heavy showers hitting places in the East Yorkshire, North Yorkshire & West Yorkshire as it moves across the our region East to West on the Easterly winds.
