..first venture into the regionals after a few months riding the disappointing model output forum 'hunt for something remotely cold' rollercoaster !...another big build up and an even bigger let down ..all gone waaaaay way south..so far south that those snow clouds are gonna need a passport!..a pants 'winter' so far here in Gods own county...but there's always February ..right???..anyway..enough moaning..what will be will be ..hats off to all those that post their forecasts on here ...makes for great reading ...here's hoping for at least one decent fall of the white stuff before our thoughts turn to warmer months!!
I'd just like to second the appreciation for what you model enthusiasts do - thank-you for sharing your ideas and for helping us novices to attempt to understand what is clearly a very complex science

A pretty icing sugar dusting on our roads too here in Sheffield S11 (SW of the city centre, I think). Our street tends to keep snow for longer partly because it's a steep dead-end road. Makes for some hairy driving onto the next street but it wasnt too bad this morning. Now let's see what Thursday into Friday can bring

The sky looks murky across Sheffield city centre so far.

Happy New Year everyone. Well, the Sheffield Star is posting about snow and ice again, forecasting another SSW event around the 3rd/4th week of January, so what do you reckon?

You wouldn’t believe some of the numpties around us. We live on a steep dead end and the three roads running parallel are even steeper but stupid drivers still attempted to go down the roads. Two roads down at the top end there are two cars parked right across the road wedged in by parked cars all up n down the road. Bonkers

I had every faith in it (the snow) coming back lol

I am watching with interest

pleased to hear that those who didn't get much snow last week have reported much more today. it looked very pretty in SE Sheffield this morning but thankfully didn't cause any mega traffic issues getting to work. very slushy and all gone now but I can see across Sheffield over the hills into the Peak District still a lot of white stuff there
-
How is it looking now The Pit? Cold out there but I don't see a snowy sky
-
Nope im here sausage :) it was fab last week, hard to imagine now with it almost all gone from around here in Sheffield. Wonder if we will see more
-
We can’t complain in SE Sheffield the snow was stunning and thanks to you guys I was well prepared for it. I enjoyed the forecasts and debates and I’m in awe at how you read those charts. I’d happily go through another bout and I will continue check g in to see what you think will be next. Thankyou

I’d cleared a path at bottom of yard for the doberbeast yesterday and it was white over again, so were all of the bird feed trays we put out for newly arrived Fieldfares and Redwings.
Misty moist fog and wet cold rainy stuff dripping now. Was fancying a trip to ikea this aft, but fat chance the car is still snowbound outside our house. Back to window watching whilst my hair colour takes lol

I was thinking of signing off to but reading the MOD thread last couple of days it seems there could be at least 1 or 2 more snow opportunities for our region yet albeit probably not as severe but certainly notable!!
I’m keeping the faith we’ve already had some surprises and November is a looooooong time off still

Snow and rain forecast here around 2 and 5pm then in the wee small hours. Just put a tray of food out for the birds we seem to have a flock of FieldFares and possibly Redwings lurking in the trees a few gardens down and up from us.

I remember it snowing in May. It was on my daughters birthday. Think it was a one day wonder here.
We drove up to North Yorkshire in a hire car on MayDay few years back and there was snow in huge piles either side of the road. Must’ve been 2013 because that’s when our old car died on us

We have a fine dusting on the street again here in SE Sheffield

Nope it was Def snow. Teensy tiny flakes but Def snow. Not like the invisible drizzle I witnessed yesterday

Come home tonight to see that the frost has lasted here too (Sheffield S11 neR city centre) yet a couple of streets away it had cleared. Flipping cold now out there
