  1. Jay i remember it up here in 82. Caerphilly cut off for a week. Fighting at the train station to get on the train that was running late. took me 6 hours to walk from the miners to the cafe on top of the mountain to feed our horses. Had to dig the in laws out as one you couldn't see the car in the drive and both their back door and front door of the bungalow faced the same direction. Snow was banked up a couple of feet above the doors. I had a fence around the front garden and i was walking above it
  2. one hr later Monday 4 Jan - Friday 8 Jan Headline: Cold overnight, with wintry showers and icy conditions. This Evening and Tonight: Staying windy and cloudy across much of the country tonight, though clear spells are possible at times. Scattered wintry showers will affect most areas through the night. Cold, with widespread frost and a risk of icy conditions. Minimum temperature -3 °C. Tuesday: Dry and cloudy for most, with the odd shower possible in some areas. The best of any sunny spells will be in the southwest. Breezy and feeling cold. Maximum temperature 4 °C. Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: Mostly dry on Wednesday, with some showers in the north. A very cold start on Thursday, then dry and bright before evening rain. Largely dry on Friday, with icy conditions. This is less than 5 days and it changes
  3. And the UK following above Saturday 9 Jan - Monday 18 Jan Showers will affect the southeast initially on Saturday with light rain and hill snow moving into northern Scotland through the day, but most areas should stay dry with some sunny spells as any patchy freezing fog slowly clears. Confidence is low from here on, but a shift to more unsettled conditions is likely through Sunday and into next week as high pressure moves to the southwest of the UK and allows periods of wetter and at times milder weather to move in. Intermittent periods of rainfall and strong winds are expected, especially in the north of the country, though colder spells are likely between these. Southern areas will see more settled conditions, staying drier, clearer and calmer. Temperatures will probably be slightly below average overall, with frosts possible in places. Covers all bases so they haven't really got a clue

  5. I always thought it was going to be marginal this week. According to yesterdays met forecast it was a dry day and night but ended up with a covering. Compare the met and BBC forecasts and look out of the window and you can get three different outlooks. 6. i think it will miss us. looks like it is rotating over Ireland and possibly catching the South West
  7. according to that radar it might clip further east as well. Somebody could be happy in port talbot and also in the vale
  8. Glad to hear you are keeping well. Missing my caravan down St David's. Was looking forward to having more time down there as the last couple of years (since we bought it) we have had numerous health problems in the wife's with her sister and mother which had been our responsibility to take care of. The last one passed at the end of February (don't ask about the funeral that was stressful) Then along came the lockdown. So its good to hear that it is all still there
  9. Plenty of bumblebees and hoverflies but not many honey bees. Nowhere near the numbers of butterflies sat in the garden for an hour this afternoon and counted 4 (wife is the butterfly person and keeps records of what they are) and this is a garden of plants and flowers that if they do not attract insects they have no place. We also got 3 water features from a pond to a tin bath to half a barrel (fish only in the pond rest for insects).
  10. woke up in Caerphilly this morning and I reckon the winds are stronger than they were in St Davids last weekend
  11. Great reading the mad thread it could be snowed in next week but then it could be bbq times in shorts
