Down here on the riviera it has been the coldest 7 days recorded for many years so i cant grumble! Sunny days! Frosty days an hour of snow monday evening that left a nice covering. First since 2018.. looks cold again tomoz here 3c then 4c or 5c so not all bad! I know weirdly the north has been warmer the past week which is probably why this spell seems so short after the models and signals promised so much!

And shows that even by Tuesday the 528dm line is still only half way down GB and doesn't cover Ireland at all.
I think there will be a lot of disappointment next week away from Scotland and North East England.
Yeah agree i dont think it will be half as cold as was originally modelled esp further south. Im just outside of southampton and this morning is the first time it has reached 5c since saturday so thats my cold spell! Nxt week here with a northerly doesnt produce temps around 5 or 6 but dry which is much needed!

Just before I started typing this, I know models not yet have handle on things where we go next week. Just out of interest. Just had the Met Office email new release and they are still talking of disruptive snow for next week. No mention yet of any breakdowns
The only thing they mention at the very end of the update is milder conditions returning at the weekend. But we knew that i guess.

Cambridge is and has been one of the worst inland City/town in the South of the UK. Its flat in in no mans land when it comes to snow!
In about the crapest place for fronts from the West and to far inland for showers from the East.
Just like Southampton!!

I was just mentioning how Wednesday wasn't looking as cold as it was a few days ago.
re Friday, I cannot speak for other areas, but I know from experience that the wind switching to ESE isn't a good sign down near the coast. If it was switching from ESE to E, it would be a different story. Beyond that, probably close to double figure temps here by Monday.
Yep agree ese can be snow on immediate coast but its very marginal. Ths majority of the time its rain which isnt great for me!

Does that mean no snow for southwest Friday? if temps have increased. all rain?
Yeah it was well voiced to be 3 or 4 ice days when in reality where i am its none... today it was 0.4c max..tomoz 1c wed 3 thurs 3 etc

Thanks @Mapantz
Unfortunately, the white flag is being raised with regards to any significant snow for Thurs/Fri. The 12z EC Det and the 15z high Res UKV keeping any PPN restricted to the Devon area, and even here fairly patchy. This is the best it gets with regards to Thurs/Fri, so maybe some interest for Devon, not so much for elsewhere.
The 15z UKV does offer something of interest for more northern and eastern members of the region on Saturday though;
which aligns to the Meto extended forecast of splitting the region in half, with milder Atlantic sourced air over south western parts and colder air remaining over northern and eastern parts of the region;
Our luck, with regards to snowfall, really isn't on our side at the moment. For my area, IMBY, Thurs/Fri is now all but gone IMO. I'm not getting overly enthused by Saturday at this stage either, no doubt that will find a way to go boobs up, although at least it does have the Meto support for now though I suppose.
That would be rain for all coastal areas with an onshore breeze...no good

You do realise these are just automated garbage? So when we get poor model runs, the apps that are driven by them then turn poor.
Some people then see this as the apps confirming what the models have shown when in reality they are just mirroring them.Yes i totally get that as the apps pushed the mild out from wednesday to sat/sun initially then yest we were remaining cold here for the weekend. Lets hope the models flip and it stays cold and dry. I for one much prefer it to 11 degrees with heavy rain every day

Is that on the app?
Yeah all the apps bbc metcheck metoffice, netweather slightly less so with 5 degrees on sunday but still that trend.

Met office are pushing the milder air in earlier now 7 or 8 degrees at the weekend. Hopefully its wrong but feels like most sites are trending that way. Nice to have it cold and dry, already noticed how the real saturation of the ground has been sucked up by the cold.

Well the radar gave me hope 2/3 hrs ago as expected fizzling away to nothing as it travels south... shocking i see nothing for us now

Enough to make pavements wet which isnt ideal.

Massive temp increase in 2 hrs 7pm it was 0.5c and now 3.2c. Even if the front makes landfall will be rain. Just not cold enough. Hope it stays away.
