  1. Biblical is the word out there for last night and today in east Devon/West Somerset... Trees down all over the place, wind is relenetless and theres so much water in the fields and streams that the rain over the next two-three days is going to cause some major probelms...not that we don't have major problems already. Network Rail reckon 4-6 weeks to repair the track at Dawlish...pull the other one!
  2. That might be the case in Norfolk, but one thing Devon is not short of is rain...or grass Radar suggests a much more easterly component to the storms in France...looks like we'll have to be happy with home grown storms
  3. "Hopefully the Met Office is correct. We need some rainfall." Do we? Why?
  4. So after all these years and constant waiting this is the fabled BEAST FROM THE EAST... I don't like it.
  5. Snow is pretty heavy here...not too sure how much more can come down but the radar suggests a real downpour is heading this way. Any reports from the further south Lyme Regis/Honiton way as to how heavy this dark blob is?
  6. Bucketing down here..this will push the level towards 6 inches if that dark blob on the radar scores a direct hit
  7. Steady snow here now for nearly an hour...now starting to stick to cars and the like. Edit: Now also sticking to roads...moderately excited!
  8. Ahh yes...I now see the flaw in my plan..or should that be thaw in my plan........................................................I'll get my coat No need to worry anyway big 50p flakes coming down fast, this will start to stick very soon
  9. Proper snow here now, none of that wet sloppy mush...now how long till it starts to stick. I might go out with a hair dryer on an extension lead to try and dry the ground up a bit...
  10. On and off rain all morning here but a very noticable change to wet snow in the last ten minutes...interesting!
  11. Sunday looks like missing the westies, but could add another sprinkling to those furthest east, but then those who miss out are very likely to see something Monday from the Atlantic front pushing in from the south west. At the moment this looks to be ever so slightly more marginal than yesterday, with a higher risk of sleet and (say it quietly) rain affecting western, coastal and lower levels. Then it starts to get messy and anything could happen, but looks like it will be staying cold, or below average till at least the end of the week with further risks of snow but decreasing as the week progresses. Then a breakdown from the west...maybe, mabe not...seven days is a long time in weather
  12. Just stopped snowing here, about 7cm in total...but the ominous drip drip has started albeit very, very slowly.
  13. From the 6z output it looks my location may be the boundary between all snow and a snow to rain event for Friday. However, this is likely to change before the event and hopefully the boundary moves south west slightly. Anyone north or east of me looks like they could have an interesting Friday to say the least... I sense some of the latest output will be of some concern to our friends further east, so be beware of reading too much into the word 'downgrade' which is likely to be strewn across the Model Discussion thread with regard to Friday. After Friday, who knows, but further snow events seem increasingly likely.
  14. Don't worry about temps for SW on BBC graphics, these are for Plymouth, much further west, UHI effect, max possible temp and right by the sea...unless of course you live in Plymouth!
  15. Sorry, never got the whole twitter thing. Just seems to be a combination of people who think their lives are important enough (which they aren't) to share with the whole world and people whose lives are so dull (which they are) they choose to follow someone elses instead. Snowing again :o
  16. Hi, I'm from Canterbury where they speak english. Could you please translate? Snowy Bob, we joined NW on the same day. We are NW twins, now we must never speak of this again...
  17. Neil, have you noticed that streamer edging towards us on the radar? Could be some more on the way very soon
  18. Toddlers!! Who needs an alarm clock? Got about 4 inches here of level, but the drifts are over a foot. Its piled up against the patio doors so much I doubt I'll be able to open them. Can anyone confirm the depth and conditions in Deal as my wife is meant to be running a physio class there this morning. Thanks in advance Looking at the radar that smegging place in France that sticks up has taken another battering over night. They must have had about forty foot of snow this winter....
  19. Ermmmm Dover is in Kent...maybe buy an atlas before you set off
  20. That is very weird, I didn't know that...although the people who live there are very weird as well and get very irate when you pronounce it wrong Anyhoo, back to the weather I'm going to assume the worst and then everything is a bonus...
