Thanks for that Shugmeister - great post and answers a lot of questions therein....
-
That's a big upgrade from the Meto....
-
Oooph - I want to be under that when they meet..
-
The front looks to be moving quicker than was forecast (IMO) - The temps here are due to fall to around -5/-6 overnight, so it "could" be a major snow day tomorrow for some of us.
-
Currently in Stirling 3c and -3c dewpoint - it feels raw though outside...good signs if the temps fall as expected tonight.
-
You can see tomorrow's front coming in - http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/satpics/latest_uk_vis.html
Looks pretty beefy already !
-
No fears, East Ayrshire and South Ayrshire are in the yellow on the warnings map - guaranteed blizzards now. I can't wait and can barely contain myself.
stirling as well - the meto are never wrong tho, are they
-
Part 3
And that's without any major event
Imagine if we had real icy pavements - we'd be on Part 12 already !
-
Woohoo - We got a meto warning for Heavy Snow tomorrow.
I fully expect sun splitting skies all day now
-
Trying hard to not be hugely offended - but I'm afraid over the last week, the BBC have really shown their true Anglocentricness...With the chaos that Aberdeen and the north suffered yesterday, for the life of me, I couldn't see any mention of it on a national news channel..
It's truly ridiculous.

*STOP PRESS*
Breaking News From The BBC News 24...
There's an icy pavement in in Bristol - our brave reporter reports from the scene of devastation...
-
Sharp snow shower here...doubled our accumulated totals so far.
Now 1mm total - it's Chaos !
-
I think all Aberdonians should get their own thread "Shnaw in Aiburdeen".
-
If I move to Sarfern England, I bet you anything, the sodding snow will only fall in Stirling...
Sods Law.
Bah
-
Possibly, but the track looks to take it out over the irish sea ?

MetO warnings for Sunday.
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_...ings.html?day=3
It's not a conspiracy, honest guvnor
-
Just call it an 'too early in the morning' incident!
"Early Morning Accident"
-
The Meto has forecast snow on Saturday through Sunday for many places - I expect they have based that on those troughs.
Thanks Ladyp - least I can now retract my blond comment
-
On the fax charts for tomorrow - are those troughs that are passing down over Scotland ?
(forgive the blond question ! - but will they bring anything ?)
-
'morning Dexter...What's wrong a Zanussi???
Too early - should have read - "our Hitachi air"
Well the 00z is spectacularly bad, which is a good thing, since FI never comes off exactly.Given all the good runs we've seen recently, the 00z is amazing for its lack of anything really positive. First, unlike the 18z the monday event is a non event, except for perhaps over the northern moors and up towards scotland. Then any hint of mid atlantic blocking drifts away very swiftly. Then we get swerlies. Then a lovely warm, bartlettish hp. Then some more swerlies. And then t384 which gives some fairly cool zonality.
Brilliant. Let's throw it in the bin.
Sorry - had to post this here....from the model thread....
Nut In A Shell

Clear as a bell in Stirling...
-3c/-5c dp
I'm getting a little bored with these frosts now....
Agree Mon/Tues is interesting with the front coming over from the west meeting our frigid air...tho JW on beeb this morning seems to think it's heading over through Sunday....
-
I'm kinda hoping the west to east movement will give us some cracking snow over the tail end of the weekend...
To coin a phrase from the Shipping - This winter "has lost it's identity" in Stirling....
-
I quite like using the USAF Sat Analysis charts...

It certainly looks like it Ladyp...that's such an awesome site - best I've seen for satimages.
