  1. What I would give for a polar low! It was a polar low that dumped huge amounts of snow here and in other parts in Dec 2000 after snowing for about 12 hours continuously. Unfortunately that is the bar by which I measure any snow event around here now which probably explains why I'm constantly being let down

Let's see how this plays out. Hopefully it'll head our way and not break up before it reaches a lot of us. Didn't get any snow last night so this would certainly make up for it! I'm not greedy though, just one of those polar lows would do

Jeez - I rememer that event well...stayed just over the river and the snow was frightening  What I'd give to see more of that...

  2. Just looked at Meto rainfall radar and it sure looks interesting up north....it looks to be moving very very slowly southwards, so I'm officially adopting it as "Today's Main Event".

This allows me to sit and stare rabidly at my monitor urging the ppn to get it's backside down to the Central Belt.

    MON THEN !

  3. Just drove home from the weej to Stirling - snowing all the way, but nothing major...fine snow in Stirling ground too wet just now.

Hope this isn't "it" for us !

Just checking the radar, what happened to the front moving up from the south, looks like it's swung away westwards...so much for the extreme warnings and mucho teeth gnashing.

  4. That was my understanding as well WX...I noticed on an earlier Sky weather bulletin that the lp coming up looked to meet our northerly system slap bang over us, and now, given that it seems to be building as it slowly moves down the country, when those two meet, it's going to be interesting....

Would still like to see the meto put their heads over the parapet and call it
