  1. Well that's the end of the rain for here (not that there has been enough to even wet the ground?) & it is very humid feeling (to me?) compared to other recent 'Sunny' days.....I don't know how 'fresh' it'll feel later as the air cools & r/h rises!
  2. Sun is strong enough to cast shadows even under this cloud here in West Yorks (& you can feel its heat through the cloud!) Odd spot of rain but still a 'Hammock Day' with cold beers this evening I reckon!
  3. If you were under that 'rain' you'd find out most of it does not see the ground!!! MetO radar showing some heavy bursts here over the past hours and we saw spots! EDIT: I don't know what our cloud base is but most of the air traffic is under it so that is a lot of air to fall through for any raindrop!
  4. In the mid noughties (?) NASA put out a report claiming 'Global Dimming' was reducing our potential warming by up to 50% With the ongoing 'cleanup' that 50% of potential warming will make itself known no?
  5. Let's all remember how the Pacific NW 'Forecasters' downgraded what their models were showing them a year ago eh? Bottom line is 'algorithms' don't do the "Climate Change? is it real?" thing? They just crunch numbers from the data fed to them? How many mad/bad' runs across how many platforms now? &, really, if not now how soon will 40C fall? Through the noughties , in here, I was assured it was 2070 or later.....in the noughties...
  6. I seem to recall, back 'int day, raging 'discussions' (in the then 'Environment' section of the board?) as to just 'when' the UK would see its first 40C All the 'regular' climate change deniers (back then) had it occur beyond 2070 & were hissying at my "By the 2030's..... Seems we were all wrong eh? (I'm sure the site has records of such discussions?)
  7. Fantastic crop of photo's! I've only stood & watched a Barn Owl hunting on one occasion so I'm deeply envious!!!
  8. IIRC the forecasters looking at last summer's 'Heat-dome' over the Pacific NW 'played down' the temps the models were showing thinking them 'unbelievable' only for the Models to be proven right? By mid week we should have a better idea how things are looking,,,,,,
  9. Just noticed that Cell when I drove up to my Sons.....inky black out toward Halifax (Bradford) but blazing Sun here! (& very muggy!)
  10. First clouds here in the Calder Valley.....looks like the air didn't like the ascent up from Rochdale? Developing pretty fast too! from nowt to 2/3rds covered in half an hour?
  11. Well 'Calderdale' is well north of the MetO warning so I'm planning a BBQ to force the storms north........
  12. We still have clear skies Will let you know eh?
  13. Contrary to the MetO rainfall rainfall it is not raining here, on the contrary, it's Sunny!!!
  14. 'Space Weather.Com have a piccie from Skye last night;
  15. Well things seem to hotting up....
  16. Well how pretty is that? We now have a snow shower in full Sun.....You don't get much of that in Winter proper (not such a strong Sun at least?) The Joy of Snow this time of Year is that the Sun quickly takes it away leaving underfoot/roads clear! Proper Snow globe outside though!
  17. Busy old Sun recently eh? I get the feeling that this is beginning to look like a far more active cycle than many predicted? 3 more earth directed CME's yesterday alone (expected on the 31st?) & the Earth facing disc peppered with spots?
  18. Well the rest of Yorkshire I hope your day has been as brimmed full of the promise of Spring as up here in the Sothern Pennines! An absolute beaut of a day!
  19. Again, I thought we were promised, repeatedly over the passed 3 decades that there'd be no 'Methane Bomb'? The Arctic Seafloor Is Degrading and Could Be a Climate Time Bomb WWW.VICE.COM Up to a trillion tons of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, may be locked away in the decaying ocean floor of a vast Arctic continental shelf.
  20. I didn't know that in the German town I used to live in they use such to summon the firemen......18 storeys up & that sets a wailing! I live in Mytholmroyd so I've heard it both 'testing' & For real event!.......it's the slow wind down from the final wail..... then the silence that follows..... that gets me!
  21. I think any of the snow on the tops will have shifted by the morning? Hopefully this will help with the rivers if that has drained before the real heavy rain arrives?
  22. Well that was unexpected! I thought it was all staying South of the M62 but it has pushed much further North! Good to see wet Atlantic snow falling in huge clumps!.... Now we'll see how the flood defences stand up to tomorrows rains (& melt from the tops?)........fingers crossed!
