Sky Sports Racing saying Doncaster racecourse is 29,8c

So for all the fuss and warnings that have been in place over the last month the European temperature hasn't been never broken, the UK temperature hasn't been broken so is this all just hype a once a year thing that might not happen again.

29c at Finningley today (Robin Hood Airport)
-
Probably the same reason the weather forecasters use FInningley and seem to get the highest temperatures in Yorkshire, set up your weather station near an airport and it seems you get higher values.

More likely they will be saving face when none of the other English or Scottish water companies are anywhere near to a ban, Yorkshire Water has 70% capacity, Severn Trent has 68% even some of Southern Water's reservoir levels are still in the 80s, so the wettest area of England needing a hosepipe ban says more about United Utilities than how dry it has been.

I am no heat lover in fact I love when September arrives but the first month of the summer was great it was just warm/hot no humidity then when it changed to humidity from the south that is when I don't like it, there was a summer about 3 or 4 years ago where for a month we had just blue skies no exceptional heat or humidity and that was brilliant. I am all for sunny hot summers if we can avoid the humidity unfortunately being an island it rarely happens.

The rain at the weekend was heavy and United Utlilites needed light rain.
Well I am sure the United Utilites customers will be glad to know they got the wrong type of rain
I doubt the water users will be saying thank you for this not great PR for the water companies.
'Heavy rain runs off the soil, with more of it evaporating in the summer, so we are left relying on the rain falling in the valleys where our reservoirs are.
Met Office forecaster Helen Roberts added: 'After such a long dry spell, heavy bursts of rain do not soak into the soil. Lighter rain is better, as it soaks in more easily.'

The BBC weather graphics really are confusing this morning Alina Jenkins showed the rainfall radar which clearly shows rain in south and East Anglia then the next graphic shows no rain in South and East Anglia.
They really need to sort out the graphics at Meteogroup they are confusing, the met office ones are much more reliable.

No but no amount of wishing changes any of that either way.
i think there’s more than a Klingon hope of heat returning! I’d say it was very likely.
August is primed and ready to deliver the icing on the cake for this amazing summer!

1995 had 8 days over 30C in Leeds so we are well short of that figure. My post wasn't a moan either - just remarking at the consistent nature of the warmth without any extremes. 31C is our highest tempetature this year, which is the same as the highest temps of 2017, 2016, 2013 and 2011 and of course lower than 2015. A yearly high of 30-31C is really pretty ordinary (although admittedly usually the result of short-lived plumes).
How many days has Doncaster & Hull had 30c or more as Doncaster tends to be the warmest place in Yorkshire being in a valley, I saw Hull beat it to 32c the other day?

One hot summer and suddenly it's climate change we have a different summer every year this year the combination of the southerly winds and the jet stream going north are the factors.
Iceland has had a wet summer due to the position of the jet stream in 2007 we had the floods as the jet stream sat over the central part of UK.
It's typical media hysteria to think one hot summer is climate change didn't they say about 10 years ago the UK would never see snow in the future.

It's a bust for West and south Yorkshire I'm afraid. Everything too far East!
Danm it
It thundered and lightened in doncaster at 6pm

The met office site haven't updated their video now for 16 hours which is why it is still showing 37c when BBC is forecasting lower temps.
Met Office are not usually this slow in updating their video are they?

it has been sunny now in Donny for the last hour which unfortunately has meant all that thunder and lightning and rain was a waste of time, the humidity has risen sharply in the last hour as well, I know Keeley Donovan said on Look North last night that the temps maybe higher than they were showing if the showers were less than forecast.
So could be another hot one in South Yorkshire if showers stay away.
