Much nicer today than yesterday, although still cloudy. At least it feels more humid and milder, more like summer.

I'd like a settled, fairly sunny and mild September this year. Rain, wind and Atlantic garbage can wait until October.

A cool day so far, low of 10 and up to around 17 degrees and cloudy. Not bad, it's warming up a bit tomorrow as well but should remain cloudy.

Cool and cloudy today, 17°C, but it felt fairly refreshing earlier.

Pretty decent day, nice temps (24 degrees) and a bit of humidity with a breeze.

A lot of it seems to be the distance from lightning, and the amount of atmospheric particles between you and the lightning determines the amount of refraction and the differences in colour. I've seen a storm where videos of it right next to or below it indicated blue/white colours, but from a distance of more than 10 miles the lightning appeared orange due to refraction.

Thunderstorm days are virtually booger all here, maybe 2-3 this year, and no actual thunderstorm as such since September 2016.

Most of the thunderstorms I've seen in the UK are electrically weak. Only a few examples I've seen stand out as having frequent lightning, such as September 2016 and July 2015. I haven't seen a proper thunderstorm since September 2016. The UK is a very poor climate for thunder - too much maritime influence and cool temperatures in summer. Just looking at CAPE/LI charts demonstrates that the conditions are rarely present, whereas over the continent with its strong surface heating values are often high most of the summer, hence their frequent and often severe thunderstorms.

Both very mild/warm and sunny months. 2013 better for thunder though. August: 2013. Best of a bad choice. September: 2016. Very mild and a good thunderstorm mid-month. October: 2011. Record warm start then a thunderstorm in the first week. November: Don't really care about November much lol. December: 2015. Just extraordinary.
