Great lighting conditions for this couple The largest crater, Aristoteles, is a ~90km-wide circular crater with steep slopes and very high walls with terraces. Its companion, Eudoxus, is a ~70km-wide crater with central mountains and hills that emerge beautifully with the sun setting over the two formations. First light for my new C11, and even if the seeing was average to bad, the performance was amazing! Looking forward to improving my images in the future. In our little corner of the Outer Hebrides just reached +21°C at my Stornoway town weather station. Other local stations are recording close values between +19/+20°C. This should be it, more or less, as the cold front is now looming over us, bringing cooler air from the NW. P.S. Notice the absurd 850hPa temperature contrast over the UK between here in the NW and the SE.

This morning's WRF 00z joins yesterday's outputs in seeing a thunderstorm system over NE Scotland during late afternoon/evening today. Development will be on the cold front leading edge, supported by advancing vorticity maximums & drier airmasses, moving from the mainland towards Orkney & Shetland, while losing intensity. Some other cells could develop E of the main system too. Notice also the gradient at 850hPa, +7 over the Outer Hebrides, +22 over the Borders.

Barra today, what a dream!

From the latest WRF 12z, a warm night tonight for many, especially inside the heat islands of the larger cities. From the same run, temperatures above +40°C are still in the forecast from N Yorkshire all the way down to Cambridgeshire for tomorrow afternoon, while the Western portions should be just a tad cooler (but not much in some locations).

Sun's out in Stornoway too now, expected since the clouds started thinning some hours ago. Temperature jumped from +17°C to above +20°C.

Not much change at Stornoway until now. Min temp of +13.4°C and we are at +15.3°C now. Will have to see how much the cloud cover will remain. Low clouds in Barra too this early morning, quite the contrast with S England!

From the latest WRF 12z, no substantial changes compared to the 00z, the areas that should see the highest max temperatures seems to be confirmed. Tomorrow, Monday And the day after, Tuesday Only notable change is that the area where the above +40°C are expected appears a bit larger, classic "dance" near nowcasting times now.

Preliminary max today in Stornoway town is +19.2°C. Now back around +17°C

Some breeze this morning in Stornoway, but already +15°C @ 9am. Cloudy skies and some drizzle earlier. A couple of warm/hot days in front of us, depending on where we are. For sure, I never expected to see +40°C in England if the forecast will come true...

Latest from the WRF 00z, the hot plume is well defined at 850hPa with a clear +24° +25°C at that atmospheric level, and quite the contrast with the +9°C just off the Outer Hebrides. On the ground, the day after tomorrow seem to be confirmed as the hottest day, with Monday's potential to reach +40°C in central England and Tuesday's forecast for +40/+41°C in the central NE portions. The WRF is also showing quite dry values over many portions of Great Britain. All in all, never expected to see these values when I compiled the color scale of my model, but here we are...

WRF 12z has started, curious to see if there will be any differences in the max temperatures distribution for tomorrow.

First look from the WRF to Monday's max temperatures, GFS 00z-based. Highest values seems to be in inland E England, but widespread hot temperatures between day and nighttime, heat islands are pretty defined, and London seems to definitely remain warm. Never expected to see these colors over the UK when I created the scale.

Fantastic anticyclone view from this morning's satellite images, with clear skies on almost every locaiton in the UK and Ireland. Temperatures will rise in Scotland today, with possible 17+°C in some areas. Windy in the West, with chances for 40+mph gusts over the W Hebrides.

Still +10.1°C in Stornoway right now, and tomorrow's forecast is for a warm day for some locations. Latest WRF is showing that temps around and above +17°C are possible on NW Scotland coasts & along the S Moray Firth. It will be interesting to see what values will be reached.
