  1. would anyone like to help with a specific forecast? Date: Monday 18/03 Time: 20:00 Venue: Gilmerton, S Edinburgh I am thinking (guessing) that at the very least - wet snow is nailed on. However, it is in respect of outdoor 5-a-side football so I would be interested to know the chances of lying snow before then ie game off. A stab in the dark at ETA of lying snow would also be much appreciated. Thanks
  2. just been catching up on our prospects for the coming days by reading the posts since yesterday I know we have a 'like this' option but I would like to say thanks to all for showing such dedication in posting charts, and the excellent interpretation and analysis that accompany them - this thread is on fire light rain here just now, peppered with the odd wet snowflake..
  3. Beeb website forecasting several cm of snow for eastern Scotland in the next 24hrs. Radio 2 predicting snow for northern Scotland. Quiet on here - snow fatigue kicking in? :-)
  4. just enjoyed a winters walk - latest shower has provided a nice top up - layer underneath (mm not cm) had frozen nicely which bodes well
  5. mmm.. Nothing prolonged showing on the radar just now. Presumably with convection, showers will just magically appear, rather than be tracked from the north sea - are we downing tools unti tonight?
  6. oh, and big thanks to BUS for posting so many charts over recent days - very helpful and much appreciated
  7. Just back from kids football in north west Edinburgh, heavy snow but not lying Have slapped on some factor 15 and off out to top up my tan in Trinity / Leith
  8. thanks LSS - so temp drop back to 0c may be good enough .. should make for an interesting evening
  9. LZO / LSS: do you chaps have a view on surface temp, dew points, uppers for tonight? are we good for snow at nightfall??? Cheers, Pete
  10. anyone know if / when temps will fall enough for settling snow in areas that are currently marginal? looking at the radar the precip will be around a good few hours yet. (clinging on to hope ) well done to the snowy peeps
  11. help!!! anyone got any straws for me to clutch at there has been light wet snow here - what are the projected changes through the day for surface temp, dew point, uppers? do the marginal areas still have a shot? enjoy the snow if you are lucky enough ..
  12. snowflakes in Leith - still a chance here for later
  13. raintoday now showing a swing from the east - likely to be a game changer (as forecast)
  14. heavy snow in Leith - still of the wet variety but no complaints
  15. Incoming still appears to be from a South Easterly rather than Easterly direction - a good sign for the central belt when the winds come more and more from the east (if you forgive the IMBY)
  16. stopping already in Leith great to know that all the preconditions are in place for snow - we are so used to being the poor relations
  17. snow in Trinity / Leith - dogs n kids being frogmarched to park forthwith
  18. early start on the Cab Sav for medicinal purposes moderating tho to ensure tip top form for midnight winter wonderland dog walk in Vicky Park cloud cover looked to be building to S East Embra 10 mins ago, or maybe it was just getting dark
