Rain, rain and more rain
-
The latest BBC local weather forecast had the snow way up to the north and west of our region, maybe Northants but not anywhere near Bucks/Beds/Herts
-
Warning is still there for most of the area! 18z is great with a snow risk nearly every day out to Sunday. I have seen falling snow nearly every day for a week already. No reason to be downbeat this winter has been amazing for cold lovers if you want it better than this year...Move to Norway!
Hahaha....I have thought of it ! Or Canada

Raining, forecast for tomorrow is rain and the advisorary for snow on Wednesday has been lifted......

Drizzle up here in the Chilterns
And netweather still has us down for icy rain
-
We had some wet snow this morning, trying its best to settle for a while which was unexpected. The netweather local forecast has us down for icy rain on Tuesday though
-
We had light but settling snow at 1am ...woke up to rain :)
Next week now looks being downgraded too :)
-
Snowing now in Chesham...proper flakes
-
The Met Office forecast for my area has no precipitation at all for the next week whereas Netweather has a high percentage possibility for snow...confused.
-
I don't get it. The Netweather forecast has my area down for snow tonight and tomorrow..92 percent chance for tomorrow. But the met office has us down for dry and cloudy...how odd.
We have had a light flurry already this afternoon, so my money is on Netweather
-
Off topic-ish, but as it is regional-ish I thought others may enjoy this. I will warn that it isn't very politically correct and there is written swearing. But it is most amusing when compared with these threads on snow days
Hilarious!

The Netweather local forecast still has my area for snow on Monday and Tuesday but Met office is saying rain....rain or snow? Which one is better? There is only one way to find out !
-
Heavy snow here in High Wycombe, Bucks for about the last 45 mins. Settling on grass, cars and slightly in trees and hedges.
I'm sure it will melt as soon as it stops.
Just drizzley rain here in Chesham, hard to believe it snowed so close to us.

Not just seagulls. I was prewarned there might be a cold winter by the massive glut of hazlenuts, hawthorn and holly berries this year, as if nature was stocking up for the birds.
-
Hi all,
Deadly quiet on here today! Is it because all our snow has gone? Not even any comments on what the models are, or not, showing in relation to our 'no mans shires'.
Mayhap we'll have a short lived snow event this week........mayhap we won't....but interesting none the less. I think we'll have a couple of frosts as well and it is cold/mild as opposed to the mild/mild we have grown accustomed to in recent years. All in all a cold winter so far and the possibility of it continuing to be so in due course.
Not even any real comments on the Seagull revelation of 'TEITS'!!!!! As an ornithologist I would like to know a little more on this....does anyone else know this Seagull weather lore? or any other weather lore relating to animals and birds?(except for the very discredited cows lying down forecasting rain ).

Tringaling
I can't answer the seagull query, though we have had loads of the wretched things hassling our local birds esp the kites here in the Chilterns this winter. But I was prewarned it was going to be a cold winter by the glut of hazel nuts, hawthorn and holly berries this year as if nature was preparing .

This thread has been ideal for us Three Counties folk, or as someone else called us , in the 'no man shires' Thank you again.
???? What is there to explain - If you live in the Part of Hertfordshire that is within the Greater London boundary then go to the London thread if not stay put, or you could even flit between the 2, most people seem to be able to get the grip of this. Most of Southern Essex get the London News whereas areas to the North and East of the region get "Look East" for instance, there is never going to be a thread that pleases everyone.
-
Thank you for giving us our own thread, if only for a brief time. We Three County folk usually end up in a no man's land limbo on weather forecast maps.
Perhaps next time we have a big snow 'event' (hate that term) we can have our thread back?
-
ohhh i hadn't seen this and its heading for Luton, but will it be rain or snow i wonder...........
Poxy rain here
-
Richard Cockcroft forecast wide spread rain for tomorrow....yeurch...I hate snow being washed away by rain. Gradual thaw, lovely. Rain just plain depressing and dangerous.
Mind you, the Met office and Netweather local forecast both had rain all day for this area and we have had a few inches of lovely fresh snow !
-
What is going on with the Met Office weather warnings? Our region is sticking right into the orange area but is still a stubborn yellow!
We have 3cms and still snowing. My daughter's school is open and my husband spun the car round 3 times while on the school run. He gave up on taking my son to nursery
Very snowy here in Chesham. I decided at 6.30 not to send my son to school as he has to go to Rickmansworth by train and if they pack up, my car is snowed in and he would be stranded.
Found out the school sent all the Chesham and other Chilterns kids straight home after registering.

There are a few flakes coming down here but it's so light that if you weren't looking for it you wouldn't notice. Temp is 0.2c after a max today of 1.7c
Oooh! It is a start though! I will go and have a look at our nearest lampost
-
Very light dusting this morning in High Wycombe. Only on the cars really. We still have quite good cover from last week but it is slowly diminishing.
My daughter's school is open for the first time since Tuesday - she's not happy!
Same here in Chesham, we had a lot of snow at one point last night but it made suprisingly little impression on our already lying snow. My son was sent off to school this morning, a bit grumpy but I suspect he was relieved to be out of the house...it has been a long Christmas holiday mainly snowed in
-
I know this is aiming high, but what would the media be saying, if it turned out to be heavy snow showers over night, 5-8 cm when all warnings have been down graded or removed, even better if that 20cm landed.
Tee hee ! That would be fun, Mother Nature 1...Met Office 0
-
The comforting aspect is that at least mother nature is still in charge of our weather, and not computers or any type of forecaster
Too right ! She likes to put us mere mortals in our place from time to time and weather is gloriously fickle and unpredictable. The met office forecasts of two 'barbeque summers' and a 'mild winter' prove that
