Comical!

I know its frustrating but try to be patient, who knows what will happen down the line.
Most of the best winters in the 70's and 80's only got going post christmas so things may look very different in a couple of weeks time,im hoping it wont look this poor anyway!!
Exactly...........Look at this from 31/12/78............. Even London was buried............

Or, maybe we can just steer a little of topic for absent friends,(TEITS)and wish him the best?
What has happened to TEITS? Noticed he has not posted since August! Loved his optimism every winter for an 80's style Scandinavian high described as "The Beast from the East"!

This archive chart below rarely gets posted and yet it gave some of the most severe conditions of that winter between 14th-15th Feb in the E. In my location I recall 6ft drifts and we couldn't gain access to the school due to these drifts. I was 8yrs old at the time and it was this event that got me interested in the weather.
FEB 1979 PROPER BLIZZARD!...........

Been snowing here since 9am & is still coming down. Over the last hour or so the snow area over the southern North Sea has really intensified. Will the area over East Anglia intensify as well?
-
Heavy snow sticking to everything here in Clophill Bedfordshire. Intensity has allowed dew points to drop. If this keeps up all afternoon there will be chaos on the roads later.
-
Been snowing quite heavily in Mid Bedfordshire for about an hour but has only just started to settle as the snow gets more intense.

@HRPickle - Perhaps a little snow overnight into Mon, but main risk comes on Tue/Wed, could be some decent snow showers in E Anglia.

What frustrates me, is that we're always looking 4-5 days ahead.
As soon as any possible snow events get to within 2-3 days away, they start to water down and only a very few get lucky, or it turns out to be a complete non event.
Looking through the various GFS runs, Precipitation charts, uppers etc...there's hardly any agreement what so ever even as early as + 96.
I think the next 24 hours models are all worth taking with the smallest pinch of salt, everything is changing hour by hour, I have no faith in any of them at this present time.
SPOT ON! Too many people on this thread look for problems/breakdowns/upgrades in F1 that never happen. I'd give anything to go back to the early 80's when on monday morning you would wake up to 1ft of snow followed by weeks of sub zero temperatures without the weeks/days of prior F1 analysis.

Unbelievable!...........Aviemore Ski Centre today..................

Snowing heavily now in Clophill, Beds and starting to cover grass etc.
-
Snowing moderately in Clophill, Beds. Snow has got steadily heavier during the morning.
-
NAO forcast coming into line with predicted cold spell also.......

Thank god I put a CET of 2.15 for Feb! I bet everyone will be going back to adjust their estimate for Feb downwards now.

The roads in Bedfordshire this morning were sheet ice. Although we had no snow last night I think snow would have provided some grip! Thank god my car is front wheel drive as the back wheels were going at 90 degrees to the front two wheels. Even the main roads were a crawl this AM!

I wish the ecm went further out!
That is a 1963/1947 set up!! AWESOME!
-
Look East BBC just warned of the threat of "Significant" snowfall in the west of the Anglia region on Thursday night! Anyone care to comment on the fax chart at 72hrs?
-
Northern edge of low seems to be intensifying over the last hour especially in Essex. Has just started snowing lightly again in Clophill, Bedfordshire is this likely to intensify as it drifts south today?
-
Solar activity is next to non existent at the moment with an extended period of low activity between cycles, possibly lasting years. Expect 2008-09 winter as the norm from now on with cool wet summers until sun spot activity picks up.

Never seen icicles you know! It's about time I did !
Only joking about this being my car!!! My car would be stuck permanently! This was around Lake Geneva in Switzerland, 2004/5 I think?! It was caused by sub zero temperatures and gale force winds! Believe it or not but there was NO precipitation!
