Right, I think we're more likely to experience the deep cold day 8 or 9 onwards.

Has been frustrating but I feel like 28th onwards it's going to turn a lot colder and snow will never be too far away !

Glad to see someone else is still cold hunting at this late hour! ECM looks promising especially as we head out of next weekend.. Looks best for Northern or western areas, but we remain faithful down here in the SE. With all that cold I think it's just a matter of time before we get a big snow event. Don't dismiss this Thursday either, with a little low clipping the north sea coasts!

Back to the models.. For those of us desperately clinging onto some sort of easterly this week, would you guys say the 12z at 3:30 is the last chance for models to start retracting back to that or do you think the chance has 100% gone?

I totally understand where you're coming from. I walked up and down the stairs earlier on today, my legs are completely gone! Let's hope the cold/snowy trend of 8 days time continues

I'm an amateur too! From what I can make out, these very clever people are saying the models look good from day 8+ so that's next weekend,with real cold and easterlies looking likely. This week looks cold too, but less so and nothing too disruptive.

Guys, did the ICON update this morning yet?

To my knowledge, about an hour until we get a fresh ICON run followed by the GFS 6z at 9:30.. As I said, I prayed to the weather gods, hopefully they've listened.

Right!! I knew I wasn't the only one who saw that... I might be just wishful thinking about the ECM later but I do have a gut feeling! Mind you, we are all sat here finding animal shapes in weather model charts, so I'm not too sure any of us are mentally stable enough to call it as it stands!

GFS 6z is 9:30-10:45 AM.. Let the countdown begin!

When ICON went against the easterly a day or so ago, it took 2 ecm runs to catch up and everyone was then disappointed. Hopefully with ICON looking better again, the ECM will catch up later on today!
