Don’t normally feed the trolls, but if you have any interest in weather you could learn a thing or two from Kold!
Enjoy your snow tonight, oh wait...
Thanks, they have been having wee digs at me from the point that I had referenced studying Meteorology. I guess they're feeling bitter because they didn't meet the entry requirements?

I still can't believe how unlucky I am going to be with this one Some great photos guys, keep them coming in, I will have to enjoy the kentimeter I end up with (ha!).
In all seriousness though, 1cm is better than nothing but...only a little! Especially as those further north and east are going to get a solid 5-10cms...
As Chris101 says, maybe Meteorology is not for you!!!

just popped head into the South West forum - by heck there are a lot of disgruntled people in there! The amber warning area the meto put up have had little precipitation to date and it seems to have formed a 'dry slot' right over this area, potentially could leave these parts with barely a sprinkling!
Anyway, the radar looks to me like the fronts primary energy is being pushed east...which could benefit Kent and the like later on. Will be watching with interest once it starts heading North and keeping an eye on intensity.... interesting times
Do you think it will reach ely?

Think we may as well sign off north of zlondon before we depress ourselves listening to these people getting their snow fix

Makes a change for us in the south to benefit from a snow event to be honest! Welcomed change from watching everyone up north or in the midlands buried whilst we have rain
We haven’t had any lying snow up here all winter.

Gone below freezing again.

High of 1c, now 0.8c. Quite a cold day but felt fine in the sun, oddly.

Well even a first day meteorology student would know that winds coming off a warm ocean = warmer temperatures and winds coming across cold land = colder..

Yes.. but winds weren't coming in from the North Sea this morning, didn't you say you were a training Meteorologist?
What is your point Daniel? Spell it out.

No deep established cold pool, North-East/East winds off of a relatively warm North Sea = higher dew points
It was -5c this morning. Pretty cold

Perhaps some streamer potential but I'm not seeing anything significant. EURO4 has the decaying front sitting over the SE/Thames area tomorrow would possible convective potential along that boundary though looks rather marginal
Perhaps a better chance on Saturday as winds turn more NE and a Wash streamer develops, though again the signal isn't overly strong
Dew Points around or slightly above freezing possibly putting stop to that risk away from higher ground
Why does East Anglia have positive few points again?

-2c and foggy still.

Belfast has snow currently, that would be slightly further North than was expected and earlier...
How much further north would this put the front?

Well! According to the MO it looks to stay cold into next week with a potential snow event on Sunday and Tuesday.!
As for today, I'm confident. Like I said yesterday, snowmageddon is coming!! And oh look, is that an EASTERLY showing on the ECM?
Good let’s hope those events spare us up here in East Anglia!!

Wow big upgrade overnight for snow in the South London/North Surrey area from the Met. Double flake symbols instead of single and extension of the period at both ends. Was 6pm to 4am now showing as 5pm to 8am. I have my finger crossed that they're right.

-5c with a thick freezing fog here this morning. Ironically it is more white than it was yesterday with our “snow cover”
Enjoy your snow storm southerners.

Not even the scraps on that run, the front literally fades away once at M4 latitude.
The showers coming in afterwards frankly look more promising for London than that front on the 21z.
Still, nothing to say it's going to be accurate, even this close models can be wrong.
Well, let's hope another event comes along for those of us who have been starved of snow cover this winter. We deserve it.

Being just north of London is like a rollercoaster at the moment!
Poor us, just getting the scraps!

Am sure you know the answer to that being a Met Student, Its not hard to work out
That's fine. Don't answer the question then.

Not expecting much in SE Essex just a dusting but go about 45 miles (As the Crow Flies) South and West to say Junction 6 of the M25 and it should be a whole lot better. One of those fronts that edges North and East from the SW and loses intensity the further North and East it goes, seen these set ups countless times and never ever have we done well from it in Essex.
Saturday might be our saving grace with the NW Moving Precip from La Frrance
Will this affect Essex or the whole of East Anglia. -
Ugh look at that, snow in Peterborough and Ely again. Please move this snow band 50 miles north and east, the central areas have had two events this past week, already.
Bedfordshire etc don't need any more snow.

0.7c and clear skies, I guess cold is all we're going to get out of this here!

I am horrified at the abuse that I have received for stating that I study a degree in Met and then referred to as a troll.
I am not a troll. Not everyone responds positively to abuse and stirring.
