  1. Taken this from @danm in the SE thread. Is it anything for us to get hopeful about? I won’t pretend like I know what it means
  2. Off topic but do you mean these? I’ve noticed them recently too, have tried Googling but can’t find anything. Anyone else know?
  3. So I learnt a new word today... graupel! I’m under that Swindon streamer & am having graupel showers varying in intensity. Just took the dog for a walk over the gallops (near Avebury) and can confirm the ground is frozen & the wind could indeed ‘freeze the b***s of a brass monkey’ lol!! Would be lovely to get some proper snowfall on top of it. Fingers crossed
  4. Huge flakes falling here now but struggling to settle on the roads and paths. It’s doing quite well on the fake grass though, much to the dogs delight!
  5. Nothing here as yet but love reading everyone’s post whilst waiting for our roast pork and crackling
  6. Same! Paying more attention to the radar than I am the game! Please snow some more so I don’t have to go to my meeting tomorrow Today has been a nice break from the norm and I’d quite like to not stop drinking mulled wine yet Still had some snow on the ground before dusk
  7. I didn’t go out and measure but here’s a pic of our garden table so I would say yes, probably around the 10cm+ mark.
  8. Just thought I’d share some photos of what we woke up to this morning. We moved last yr to the other side of town and are on a slight hill now. Whilst out enjoying a walk in it, watching families building snowmen and kids laughing having snowball fights, me and Mr Calneee both agreed that this has been a much needed and welcomed mental break.
  9. This humid weather makes me feel ill, I really struggle to function but always look forward to it breaking down with a good thunderstorm. As that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen here, I’m literally just counting down the hrs now to fresh air tomorrow.
  10. Was just going to write ‘stay strong over them hills little Ludgershall cell heading my way!’
  11. Same @Wiltshire_snow_lover I’m just down the road from you watching it scoot right round us. It happens sometimes when it snows too... I wonder if it’s to do with the hills?
  12. 1st couple of distant rumbles of thunder here but radar suggests precip is breaking up as it comes over the hills
  13. There are some almighty rumbles coming from around here! Chippenham area.
  14. I’m watching & hoping I might get something from that slow moving cell coming up & over from Andover. I’d take some dark skies & heavy rain right now Looks like it’s producing some lightning over the plains. Skies are going dark here
  15. I’m in North Wilts @AWD & can see the outskirts of that line & hear the odd distant rumble of thunder. The cloud looks angry to the WNW & building to the SE of me but as of yet, blue skies immediately above me & not a drop of rain. Watching with interest
  16. Just dropping by to say hi all & follow along. Some rather large towering clouds all around here on a backdrop of bright blue sky. Watching radar for a drop of the wet stuff but think it’s going to scoot right by me. Hope some of you get something
  17. Ok thanks really interesting, ta Yes I think scud is what it is. Here is an earlier still of it forming (the sky lit up by lightning) I think the low cloud could maybe the trees?
  18. Just going through some stills of video footage taken towards the end of the storm last night. Not managed to capture anything exciting other than 1 tiny fork of lightning but does anyone know what this tube like shape thing is at the end of a cloud?
  19. Seems to have picked up intensity around us again. Heavy rain, constant thunder & flashes of lightening, sons plane is heading towards Manchester! Thank goodness we don’t have school tomorrow! Cannot remember a more prolonged/surreal episode of storm. Looking forward to editing all my footage. Well worth staying up for
  20. Maybe next summer we can do a house swap! So much footage to go through, kids are all awake now, so might not get it on until tomorrow
  21. Can anyone tell me how this might affect the flights into Birmingham airport within the next hr please? Our son is due to land
  22. Still going here. Can hear heavy thunder now & constant flashes of lightening. Had the briefest of heavy downpour. Think I’m going to get double whammed by what’s coming up through Salisbury. Me & dog have come in from the garden & watching it through conservatory roof now ok, even I’m not that brave. Gone into the house now!BoomMy windows shook!
