  1. It’s a weird feeling sitting outside this time of day in this country & it being so warm watching a lightning show with no noise
  2. Good choice to go outside! Lots of light flashes in the distance from where I’m sat. No rain though & cant hear no thunder.
  3. Gonna go & sit outside for a while then, not like I’m going to get much sleep! Currently camped downstairs as too hot upstairs & hubby sleeps with winter tog duvet?? & the dogs currently hogging all my sleeping bag
  4. Not a fan of the oppressive weather but MO app keeps teasing me with lightning symbols so may stay awake for a few more hrs to see if we get anything. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a good thunderstorm & but feel like a terrible parent wishing for one as our eldest son is due to land at Birmingham airport in the very early hrs & obviously want him to have a safe flight.
  5. Not that far away from you Andy & whilst out giving the garden a water, spotted a rainbow just in 1 cloud. Lasted about 5mins before it disappeared again. Not a fan of how muggy it is but my chillies are loving it!
  6. Gone quite dark here all of sudden. Checked radar but can’t see any precip. Heard a rumble & it made me jump out of my skin. It was the neighbour dragging her bin in! Feeling muggy, grey skies, 20.1C 83%H
  7. 15.6C & raining. 6mm in the last hr apparently. Disappointed not to have been woken by thunderstorms but after today it looks quite pleasant. I’ll take pleasant as have a couple of big jobs that need doing in the garden.
  8. Ok thank you all, will definitely have a look around. That Lyneham Station feels more accurate, I’d be miserable & melting at 26C in this humidity & it doesn’t feel that hot & yes the temperature difference is about 3-4C which is considerably considering its only up the road (adds weather station to Christmas list...)
  9. Ah, ok, thank you. Do you think it would be better not to rely on that app then?
  10. Where do you get your temperature readings from please? I’m using Wunderground & apparently it’s 26C here with 79% humidity according to the app. Just opened the door to let the pup out & it was like stepping off a plane! Slightly brighter cloudy conditions & feeling much muggier now with a gentle warm breeze. MO thinks I could be in with a chance later this afternoon Just as I posted that the lightning symbols disappeared!
  11. MO app suggesting the sun will come out this afternoon. Does that improve my chances of a thunderstorm later? Was expecting grey skies all day
  12. Currently 22C & a blanket of grey skies. Hasn’t felt as oppressive as I thought it might. Slept fine apart from waking regularly to check lightning mapsNot sure I’ve picked the best year to try & have a go at growing chillies. With all this lack of sunshine can’t help thinking I’d have had a bumper crop last year. Happy Monday all
  13. Came to post the same thing @matt111 For the first time today blue sky is beginning to appear but the breeze has picked up. (2 nesting pigeons have pooped on my nice clean conservatory roof!)
  14. Just delurking to say hi & evening allStill read along most days. Spent the morning cleaning the conservatory roof inside & out, hoping for a clearer view of the possible up & coming lightning displays so disappointed to see they’re not looking so promising now & I’m only just making it into the yellow zone. Enjoyed a little bbq in the back garden this afternoon sat out in a vest top under grey clouds & short spells of warm spots of rain. The humidity seemed to dip in & out but the sky does looked charged so fingers crossed we get treated to a little something to make the lack of sunshine worthwhile
  15. Mr Calneee has just done the same & says car is reading -6. Is anyone able to point me in the direction of where I can go for more accurate local temps than our car & phone apps?
  16. Beautiful day here yesterday. Although the side streets around here are treacherous, the main roads to Chippenham by car were fine. Managed to get to the pub & back with a chippy tea by avoiding the pavements & walking down the middle of the of the roads. Still lots of snow around but yesterday’s partial thaw means it’s an ice rink out there this morning, phone app says -5 & the backdoor key is frozen in the lock!
  17. For those granted an unexpected snow day by the weather gods, I hope you’ve all had a brilliant time. We’re 1 sledge down, the kids are cold, wet & hungry but still out playing & Mr Frosty is still looking good as the final flakes fall from the sky. Have been following this forum for nearly 2yrs & would have joined up earlier during the Beast from the East if it were not for having to have our beloved 12yr old dog put to sleep literally just as the 1st flakes began to fall. My heart wasn’t in it then Fast forward nearly a year now, we have a new pup to enjoy the snow & make memories with. I won’t pretend I know much about the weather models or be able to participate much in that side of the discussion but I’m a kid at heart when it comes to weather like snow & thunderstorms & look forward to sharing what’s happening in my location & A GIN/WINE/BEER on occasions with you all... I’m not fussy! Promise not to talk so much all the time too ~haha~ but can’t believe Calne was in the sweet spot again this time (Had given up hope & gone to bed well early yesterday after a day of radar/forum/app watching and literally 1/2hr later...BOOM!) To future weather watching with you all... Cheers
  18. Car window screens have started freezing & snow sticking. Temp must be starting to drop. Winds dropped. 50p flakes falling straight
  19. Not stopped snowing all day. Heavy snow again now. No access to back garden anymore as snow has fallen off of conservatory roof blocking back door. The pup’s not happy #snowedin 061FAC55-1CA6-4F2C-997C-A8FAC10AE043.MOV
  20. Thanks. All taken on my IPhone (6plus) Quick update: It’s still snowing, we’re one sledge down, the pup’s still out playing, hubbys been sent home to work & we may have opened the snow apocalypse Stella
  21. 50p sized pieces falling now (You can hear my pup in the background clawing at the door to get back out in it) C85B364F-C947-414A-833C-D50D877A784C.MOV
