There's always alot of old bunkem spoken when it comes to these storms.
Worst in however many years sort of nonsense.
The talk of 70mph inland Southern England gusts ( if by inland we mean a good 30 miles from a coast,I can't see it)
The notable thing about this storm is the strong wind field covering just about the whole country.
Quite rare to see, gust wise nothing to suggest we are in trouble.
Values most would expect during the winter at some point ( perhaps excepting that central belt of Scotland ) if the 85mph gusts come to fruition it might be a once in three year?
The central belt do not get 85mph gusts every 3 years. Nowhere near it

Some very concerning charts for Sunday into Monday widely 80-90 mph showing on the west coast. Would not be surprised if a red is issued either.

Looking likely that there will be another storm on Tuesday, looks like it could be a memorable spell of windy weather here on the Ayrshire coast if today's models are correct. Wind speed has upgraded through today.
Congratulations @Northern Strath

Snow is on in Ayr

Well this was a modelling fail if I ever seen one. Predicted 5 to 6 hours of heavy snow and I have a sprinkle of snow grains

Well the warning for 1 - 3 cm over 200m was a tad wrong, and the warning area was far too small. Shows how difficult it is to forecast snow. Still, a pretty big mess from met office.
We have a couple of cm here in Ayr, missed most of the heaviest stuff which went just north of here to Irvine/kilwinning area which have more than double. Still though, lying snow in December here is almost unheard of

Where's @snowlessayron such a momentous evening?!
Car was showing -11.5°C at 7pm coming back from doggy day care earlier. Garden sensor currently -7.6°C.
Currently the odd snowflake, but not much yet

Just had a very lively thunderstorm, the brightest flashes and loudest thunder I have ever heard. Only lasted 10 minutes but was quite spectacular, love a wee night time lightning display

With 2 out of the last 3 days above 28° and I think 4 or 5 above 25° here on the Ayrshire coast. This spell is now record breaking. Believe auchincruive beat the highest June temperature record for that station by 0.5. Can't remember a spell of such humid, sunny and warm temperatures this early on in summer. With afternoon thunderstorms regularly appearing in the afternoons in ayrshire it's starting to feel akin to Spain.

More light snow showers, a decent wee shower at the moment that actually has a little bit more intensity. A decent wee covering now, unexpected snow here tbh. Not very often that happens in Ayr

Got the slightest of covering as a shower made it here around 8. Didn't even know about it till I went outside and iced snow on the car and the ground white and got a suprise. It's that localised that parts of ayr didn't even see it

Looks like ayrshire has got the brunt of this, some local power cuts, lots of trees down and even roof damage about. Quite surprised how much impact this has had.

Flight going to Prestwick has given up and is headed back south, assuming the runway is frozen stiff after the freezing rain.
