Thanks, I find the little ice age very interesting. In fact I was given a book as a gift a few years ago called "The Little Ice Age: How Climate Made History 1300-1850" by Brian M. Fagan. Which doesn't just have the general facts, but goes into great detail about viking settlements, harvests, european history, vinyard locations, agriculture, nao, ice extent, diarists accounts, how people managed etc it really is a fascinating account and I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in this area. It also makes me wonder if we are entering a cooling period how the infrastructure in the UK would cope with the same type of weather.
