  1. Years I don't remember anything weather wise, or were boring:

    1993, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2017, and 2019 so far.

Don't remember any notable good summer weather, storms or anything interesting in these years. In 2005 everybody went on about a big thunderstorm outbreak on 31st August, which is my birthday, but even though I lived in the middle of the storm zone I don't remember anything happening at all, must of missed me.

  2. It reached 21°C here, followed by a sudden moderate shower from the west. That was actually the first rain I've seen this month, but then I was in Margate from 1st-6th July, then central France from 6th-12th July, and it didn't rain in either place when I was there. I've certainly come back to traditional northern English weather, cool, cloudy and damp. Not moaning though, it's exactly what is says on the can.

  3. Just got back from my holiday in Central France, where it was 27-31°C everyday and sunny. The sun is so unbelievably strong there compared to the UK. Wow. Seeing as I was doing some activities it was a bit much even for me at times. The cold, cloudy weather I have arrived back to here is almost welcome lol.  That ever present grey, low cloud that looks like you can reach out and touch it. Not seen that for many days that's for sure!

It depends where you used to live? The average Max at low level for June in south Yorkshire is 20.7 C, that is over the past 20-21 years at my site, about 40 ft above msl. It was about 19.5 C from 1942-1995 at RAF Finningley. My temperatures, prior to actually keeping a record, showed my avge Max in summer was about 0.5 C above RAF Finningley (Robin Hood Airport now)

That sounds pretty mild. I'm at 93m ASL so a bit cooler on average. My weather station has recorded an average max of 20°C between 17th-28th of this month (there were technical issues before that so no more data from earlier on).

    Anyway today's stats here:

    Max 29.3°C

    Min 13.3°C

    Quite a warm afternoon.

You have a heck of a lot cold days then

Yes, to me average summers in Northern England are quite chilly. But then I grew up in a warmer climate. To people who grew up in Northern England they're more used to cold summers of course. I mean 13 days this month failed to achieve a high of 18 degrees, and that's meant to be summer? LOL.

  6. If people even think today's weather is too hot then they need to spend a few weeks in a country that actually gets "hot" summers. i.e. places where about 98% of the world's population live and don't whinge about it.

Anyway it's 27 degrees here and very pleasant. Not even close to hot, and very comfortable outside with my usual 2-3 layers on.

  7. One annoying thing I noticed this week is that with all the media bleating of "heatwave", stores everywhere have turned their Air Conditioning on full blast even though it's been average or even below average temperatures most of the time. As a result it's been utterly freezing inside most places, almost unbearably cold with drafts of ice cold air coming from the ceiling, ridiculous.

  8. This month's failed heatwave (compared to what charts showed not long ago and the now well below forecast temperatures even based on yesterday's forecast) makes any other failed heatwaves in my memories pale in comparison. This June is only slightly "better than" 2012, and a lot colder (though drier) than June 2007. Still been my worst June in many years. At the end of the day you really have to laugh at what a fail the climate of the UK is. Just can't do anything. No snow last winter, failed heatwave with maxes of 14°C, it is very funny really.
