With all these tropical depressions hitting the US, what are the chances they’ll eventually be deflected our way and bring copious amounts of rain with it?

It’d be very unusual if this did come off for Central areas to be the wettest place in the country! Normally it’s the North West which suffers from this but of course it’s all dependent on the position of this low.

Can see this being a Kent Clipper at best with the rest of us receiving bog standard rain.

Lovely and sunny here today. Plenty and blue skies and a moderate breeze to moderate temperatures. It’s been sunny since this morning here. You guys must be really unlucky down south.

I really don’t get BBC Weather graphics usage - one hour of light rain with the rest being sunny/sunny intervals yet they choose to make the overview of Monday a light rain graphic? Misleading much.

I’m confused - some people are saying warmer and settled weather with little rain forecast whereas others are saying a brief warm up before returning to cooler and more unsettled conditions. Which one is it?

Multiple trees reported as being down in the SW region. Specifically between Totnes and Plymouth.

Looks like this plume will be a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ affair. Slightly warmer temperatures after although unsettled weather will still be firmly in charge.

Has the warmer and settled weather forecast for the second week of August once again been pushed back?

Out of curiosity, why would you want 4-5 weeks with not a single drop of rain? Surely having one or two days of rain per week, with the rest being dry and sunny, would be the ideal conditions?

It looks like even people in the MAD thread are starting to admit defeat now.
There’s only so many times you can say ‘Well it might be better in two weeks time’ before you’ve run out of time. In this case, summer.
i think we’ll eventually become ‘unstuck’ out of this pattern but by then, daylight hours will be shorter and the intensity of the sun is not as strong as it is in high summer.

What happened to the increasing chance of high pressure which was posted on the MAD thread a couple of days ago? Has this once again disappeared and been replaced with more low pressure forecast?

Hey guys, quick question - Dad is going Glasgow on Thursday morning via the WCML from the Midlands and was wondering if there is any threat of disruption due to heavy rain that day?
Earlier today, the WCML was shut between Preston and Lancaster due to flooding.

Looks like a washout here in the Midlands for the majority of Sunday and into the start of Monday. Firstly, we have this band of heavy rain approaching from the West, followed by heavy showers, with that large area of rain heading South, which will make a wet start to Monday.

Looks like an even bigger rain making is making inroads from the West!

I think some people on here spend far too much time moaning than actually going outside. Ironically some of those posters are located in places where it is currently the most warmest and driest…
Today was actually a decent day - the sun actually felt pretty warm when it was shining. No cool breeze, either. Go out and enjoy the weather, even if it looks dull from your window. It isn’t always as bad as it looks.

It’s really calm and still here at the moment. Even had a few spots of sunshine coming through.
You wouldn’t believe that there’s a big area of low pressure over you right now if you looked outside the window.
