  1. Francis is a legend. When he was on the local Thames t.v he forecast rain turning to Snow during the night, the BBC did not. Next morning we woke up to 6" of snow! This was in 81/82, a law unto himself. Then Sky stole him away from us. He seemed confident that Snow would come up from the south then get shoved away with a northerly replacing it. Actually I hope not, or I won't get to see my Daughter who is due to come down from Leeds on Boxing Day.
  2. Looks like my last shot of heavier snow is about to start and end quickly. Love the post about the Norfolk Police driving course..................Clearly the same as the Essex one. lol
  3. I saw the ever languid Francis on Sky earlier, he seems to think Snow for Monday and arctic weather for the rest of the week!!
  4. It's always best not to hold ones breath for too long. First you become Blue and then pass out. lol
  5. Yes, ME. Temp 0c and am waiting for the back edge before falling into bed. Have to go to Stansted tomorrow so hoping it's not too bad up there.
  6. We had half an hour of heavy snow now it's just light stuff. Enough to cover the Car again. Also everything that had previously melted. I think we may have a little more to come, but not a lot. I think the roads are o.k, just saw a nightbus inching it's way down the High road.
  7. No but we always salute it when we go past. lol Considering I got the Car down to 30 when we crashed the damage was small in my opinion, but they insisted on a new one. Always crash in a BMW, it does exactly what is says on the tin. Any other Car and we would all be dead now. Plus, run flat tyres, I would never use anything else now. Nite Nite all. Hope you all get more Snow for tomorrow.
  8. Thanks Steve, I think you are right, am giving up and hitting the sack now. Fiona, hope everything is o.k for tomorrow. Funerals are bad enough without the added problems of weather.
  9. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one. Have a big Family meet on Sat so hoping everyone can make it. Otherwise posting the presents will cost about a Billion quid.
  10. No surprise there then. I actually own a crash barrier at that junction. Had a crash a few years ago and was billed for a new one!! Burst tyre, probably the scariest moment of my driving life. Esp when doing 80.
  11. True. We only need a quarter of an inch for the Country to fall apart. We are so rubbish at it. Even in the 80's when every winter had loads of Snow the Country fell apart. Like my Kids who are all old enough to know better, sit in T shirts and tell me how cold they are!! I do point out that if they were wearing jumpers in the Summer, they would complain about being too warm!!! To no avail though. I think because our Weather is just so odd compared to everywhere else we are never ready for anything. lol
  12. It is, but not heavy, I reckon we have around an inch here. But I am High up, the Highest point in Woodford apparently. Darn, the lights flashed again
  13. Very addictive this snow watching lark. lol Thankfully I don't have to be up early tomorrow or I would have packed it by now.
  14. It is! Hooray! just a shower by the looks of it though. How much has Ilford got?
  15. I'm South west Essex on the Greater London Border, that is what I am waiting for too!!!
  16. Maybe a touch of luck but no more than that!! You are one of the people I watch out for to read when things get interesting, Summer or Winter. Thank you.
  17. How awful, guessing that was the problem here earlier, lights flashing for a couple of hours but thankfully is o.k now. Being without power when it's so cold is a nightmare esp for the elderly and infirm. Hope they fix it soon. Just waiting for the next blob which looks to hit me soon, then must sleep, my Bed is shouting at me now. lol
  18. Wind has now dropped. Snow has stopped too. Guessing the Wind is changing direction now. Will give it half an hour then I'm off to bed. Can't see anything on the radar coming my way now. Fun while it lasted. What is with everyone popping out for a fag? lol
  19. Not as far as I know. Sky News working here o.k. But even after the last quite heavy shower we still have only an inch of Snow! Was hoping for more which is why I am keeping an eye out for a streamer.
  20. Wind changing slightly and a [Thames] streamer could be about to start. Will wait up a little longer to see if it does.
  21. Have decided to be "Nocturnal" for one night only. lol Still snowing but light now. If a streamer does set up I usually get something from it. Fingers x Thankfully the lights have stopped flickering. Correction- Heavy Snow again now.
  22. Welcome Thunderqueen, glad you got home o.k Thundersnow is rare and wonderful, we had some in '04 the oddest thing I had ever seen. I too am relaxing with a glass of wine, and watching to see what happens. It's very rare for the Meteo to put out a red warning I am interested to see what may happen. My youngest daughter [17] had her first snowball fight in Feb and is hoping for another in the morning! CJ.
  23. A great read Steve and thanks. The Winds look high for tomorrow night so guessing there could be drifting for those who get a fair amount of Snow during Thurs Night. As the back of the House faces North east a similar thing happened in Feb and I couldn't get the back door open. lol
