  1. There's a lot I've been reading about the jet stream slowing down. Is it too simplistic to say that if it slows down we will get colder weather ?
  2. Temps in parts of france particuarly south and southwest much higher wehre they should be, could be as high as 20C in some places, but far from record breaking. Temps in Western Russia seem to becoming something more seasonal February outlook so far suggests still milder than average month but significantly less than January with more cold and frost. Gav's weather vids predictions for summer suggesting cooler and wetter than average.
  3. skip to about 9:42. Estimating temps up to 40+ in summer and 18c in winter? Seems like this is a gross overestimation. Can't remember who said but some Swiss climate think tank said London would have climate of Barcelona in 2050. That means on average summer would be about 27 (so nowhere near 40) and winters around 12-14c.
  4. Regardless, 1916 was still the warmest January on record with a CET of 7.5
  5. There's no way its going to beat 1916 or 1921. Models predicting first few days of next week will be much colder, though most are north of the CET, with snowfall predicted. I'd say 2008 is the most similar year to this in terms of winter, that turned out to be 6.6. I'm guessing 6.3
  6. January will be much milder, one of the mildest on record perhaps joint with 2008 or 2007. Feb, cooler but still milder than average. March, cold spells, cooler than average. April, some warmth, average. wet May, again, some warmth but mostly average. June, about average July, warmest month, maybe a few days of 30c+ heat but generally under 35c. August - very wet and cool September - milder than average October - a little cooler than average, wet November - periods of cold weather a little below average December - wet and mild
  7. I thought the record CET was 7.5 in 1916? Could this be a record breaking january or will the cold snap that has started return it to something less mild?
  8. Would it beat 2007 which was the second warmest? Russia has also been the mildest it has been in winter (in parts). Is netweather's tracker which predicts a CET of 7.96 for this month inaccurate then?
  9. Some places are predicting a CET for this month of 7.95 which would beat the 1916 CET. It's been a very mild month, will we beat the record? Can we expect this trend to continue in February?
