  1. I like how they're all on their phones or laptops.....probably ordering face masks off Amazon before the announcement haha
  2. I'm hoping for one to pop up near me, then at least the roads might quieten down a bit!!
  3. Oh and they border Iran, so that might explain why lol
  4. With no official cases, that seems a bit odd. Maybe they're worried about refugees coming their way through Turkey?? **Oh, just seen 1 confirmed case, still small though, but it's officially there.
  5. Thing is, this doesnt stop it completely.......you'd need to ban all international flights to make a statement like that!!
  6. I'd read somewhere that there are quite a lot of Iranians in Northern Italy, but again, I might be wrong, as I forget where I read it. If thats true, it would explain why, but I cant find any proof lol
  7. Just for info, there's actually no definitive answer as to where it came from. The 3 options historians go for, are British Army in France, or USA, or China.
  8. WW1 played quite a big part in it lol
  9. Is there an age demographic for all confirmed cases? I might of missed it somewhere in this thread, but would be interesting to see the age spread of the total cases, not just by deaths etc.
  10. The quarantining and lock downs wont have any affect on the death rate, so that point is immaterial. As for the hospitals, last I read they werent ICU or anything, just hospitals to give basic, non life threatening care (basically just beds to keep people in). If so, then that wouldn't affect the death rate either. I might be wrong on that, as I cant remember where I read it, so if you have any info on what the new hospitals are actually doing, it would be useful.
  11. No its not true lol, I think you mean more than 3% lol Still wouldnt call your statement alarmist at all, but it is down to perspective and peoples attitude to life.
  12. But I thought the regular group who are in this thread insisted that no country is to blame? I'm just surprised by their reactions thats all. According to some in here, our practices are just as bad lol! You couldnt stop travel to and from China, but some sort of world sanctions might help stop the scummy practices they employ over there. Thing is, it isnt just China that do such things, but they have such a high population density, it makes it much worse!
  13. I'd say they're duty bound to think about the economy, especially as the death rate is still relatively low. Obviously its difficult to know where the line is drawn before acting further, and things are changing day by day, but no responsible government would ever say stuff the economy......not when worldwide cases are still at this stage anyway.
  14. So you'd stop all travel to China? As for 2 or 3 funerals at any one time, now thats certainly alarmist lol
  15. Was interested so had a quick google. Details say cancelled due to track inspection, so quite possible a jumper or something, but who knows.
  16. I agree. I think most countries are doing as much as they feel necessary. Whether countries are doing enough is open to debate, but its a difficult line to draw. Most countries just dont have the resources etc to shut down and secure an entire region, let alone the whole country. And what about testing? You cant test everyone for this virus, as there just isnt the time or resources. The best they can do is unfortunately wait until people come forward. So many variables across so many platforms, it just is what it is. So many people complain about how governments react (some are obviously justified) but generally those people cannot offer any viable alternatives. Its a bit like snow ploughs in winter. UK wise, if millions of tax payers money was to be spent on snow clearing equipment, people would complain its a waste of money. But when that once in a blue moon snow event happens, people are complaining left right and centre about how poor the resources are. You just cant win lol. This whole thing is really down to each individual. If you are genuinely concerned for your safety, then dont go out. If you arent, then just live your life as normal, taking any precautions you feel are needed. People are sooo quick to expect the government to tell them how to live their lives, and can never make decisions for themselves. Obviously government advice is helpful and gets people thinking, but people shouldn't just expect the governments to deal with it all for them, and not do anything about it themselves.
  17. You mean Mexico hasn't confirmed or detected the virus yet lol
  18. Errrmm, oh dear lol.........such a shame!
  19. Do you genuinely believe what you say, or is it just for effect? Im honestly curious!
  20. Thats a tough one though. Do you cause a massive economy crash, untold misery to millions, and put massive strain on emergency services due to extra policing, riots/public order etc etc, because of a virus that could kill 5% of the population? (random worst case figure) UK figures wise, its relatively minor at the moment. Now it almost certainly will get worse (as in number of cases), but how worse, no one knows. I personally am not fussed either way. Close the entire country off, doesnt bother me (would solve the immigrant problem lol), but it WILL cause MASSIVE problems across the board, so shutting the country down is probably out of the question. Whether thats right or not, I dont know, but I doubt any country could survive being shut down completely, borders wise anyway.
  21. But you just more or less said it spreads no matter what? If quarantining and restricting methods wouldnt of worked in china a month before they finally acknowledged it, when the virus was relatively small and localised, then why bother now when its spread around the globe? Going by your theory, its just a waste of time to try to even slow it down?
  22. Soooo, why is everyone getting so worked up over quarantine and spreading etc? If knowing about the virus nearly a month earlier when it was much much smaller, would of made no difference, whats the point of bothering with everything? Might as well just carry on with normal life and let it run its course then??
  23. Really? So if they knew about it a month before, when it was just a relatively localised virus and not chinese new year, it wouldnt of made much difference?
  24. Now if only there was a group of experts.....we'll call them doctors...........who discovered this long before it became widespread??? Can you imagine how much better things would be if this was spotted early on......oh, thats right, it was!! Now, I wonder, who was responsible for covering up this knowledge and allowing this virus to rapidly spread? Hmmm??
