  1. It does make the radar hard to read when you have "Snow" over you for hours and hours yet nary a flake falls from the sky.
  2. Cold dry and grey here on the coast nr Gt Yarmouth. Lot's of stuff aimed in the direction but I have very low confidence in anything settling even if it does arrive. I am a cheerful soul this morning! **Although NCFC just signed Ricky Van Wolfswinkel! Even the name cheers me up a bit.
  3. Ahh so the cloud ahead of the front was the spoiler. Thanks for the knowedge, I will try and remember that for next time!
  4. I really thought my part of Norfolk was in line for some big snow showers, For some reason though there has been a wide gap where either there has been no showers or the showers have been dandruffy. I wonder what it is missing as the cold is here, warm sea and instability - I thought that would equal convection?
  5. Anyone know how long these showers are forecast to continue? Overnight ? I am in Norwich at the moment and we seem to be missing most of the showers recently, although lots of potential out towards Holland? Pleased to see the rest of our area forum area getting some though. Keep those reports coming!
  6. I think you are right and its looking promising for tonight! It's only a light covering here but has settled on grass, roads and almost everywhere else. Quite hard small bits of snow falling so far. I am still hoping from some proper big snow showers, although that may be a bit hit and miss depending exactly where you are.
  7. Nice covering here just north of Gt Yarmouth. Really cold and windy, think I'll wrap up and go out for a walk under the lamp posts. Good luck everyone, hope you get some tonight!........Snow of course!
  8. It will be Interesting to see what convection occurs. Wind just north of east, high cloud tops, massive difference in temp as air comes over warm sea....... I want to see some beefy snow showers out of this!
  9. After a day of very very light snow and nothing settling, we just had a burst of harder snow that's left a thin dusting. Seems like quite hard snow pellets now, wonder if we'll have a covering to wake up to here in Norfolk?
  10. Still time for changes yet. Time and time again we see the weather differ by 100 / 200 miles and things are very different. Very encouraging signs and trends though I would dearly love a strong North Easterly with convection but too early tell the exact direction of thee wind and weather at this stage. Maybe a bit more confident by Sundays 12z s . Great period of model watching though.
  11. Great drive home from Norwich to Ormesby, some of the biggest flakes I have seen in years. A really nice wintry picture the sky filled with big flakes. Awesome.
  12. Looks like a smallish (compared to yesterday) band of precipitation coming up from the south east. Wonder if it will carry on that track?
  13. A superb day of snow! The little flakes have added at least 5 inches since starting late afternoon. Still falling and look like continuing overnight. Had a nice long walk in fresh snow watching it fall under the lampost lights, absolutely lovely stuff. And won £500 on an accumulator yesterday too! What an ace weekend.
  14. Drifting like mad out there now, my footprints have re-covered 3 times already! Mist snow I've seen in a fair while and 3 hours more to come? I reckon there are a few unpassable roads already in the minor villages, fun drive in to work in the morning. And Norwich is just as bad apparently.
  15. Any idea on the east coast situation? Seems a mix of opinions on whether it will be marginal or not.
  16. Watching with interest on the coast, will we will get snow, rain or a mixture? Snow during the heavy band? Anyone care to make a prediction? - I would but I am stuck up here on the fence.
  17. Thanks for your post. A few quite experienced members were talking about it being marginal for snow on eastwards facing coasts. (based on the GFS). Hopefully these charts show that is till be snow, but it may be a wait and see scenario.. again!.
  18. Glad we had our dollop on the east coast here last night, as this one seems to want to fizzle out before it reaches the coast. Still time for a bit more yet though.
  19. 3+cm already and not even nearly through this band of precipitation yet! Really coming down a treat - Just did a little night walk in th snow leaving footprints........aaaaaah bliss. After being rained off here on the coast earlier in the week, this is lovely to see! Hope everyone gets a taste this weekend. I am sure everyone on this thread will get some.
  20. Disapointing snow day for me. I did get to some at work in Norwich but I was leaving just as it got interesting. Now back on the coast just north of Gt Yarmouth and it's wetter than an otters pocket. No snow anywhere, I should know better really. There'll be some sad faces from the kids in the morning.
