  1. It's been a lousy week for weather in norwich and towards Gt Yarmouth, always seem just that little bit to warm.(Grey and cold and drizzly is not my favourite) (Sorry I just needed to get that grumble out if my system!) Looks like some of you have had some nice conditions and more to come, just hoping it may move over us here towards the east of norfolk but having looked at the models it seems we are not in a good spot. I may have to go out for a drive, where is the best spot this week do you think?(In this area I mean)
  2. Folowing the last few GFS runs, it shows potential snow for Norfolk during much of the day. It's currently rain by the coast nr Gt Yarmouth but it will be interesting to see what happens later on as I head to Norwich for the day. I don't feel convinced that the forecast snow will arrive. (It may snow but I can't see conditions condusive to it laying although I hope to be proven wrong)
  3. Quite a good covering here near the coast (Just north of Gt Yarmouth) And still coming down nicely, the showers look like they'll be catching us for a while.
  4. The models have been amazing though and for me that's the exciting part. True it was lovely to wake up to a covering of snow today but that's not what I follow this thread for for it's the second guessing of the models and reading between the lines of the experienced posters. Some very experienced posters seem to wait until there is a set of models which support their view then post and then go silent when the models show breathtaking scenarios. I am still a novice but I am remaining confident of block staying strong and then bringing the cold this way however I suspect it won't be until tomorrows 12z or later that we can have any degree of confidence in the outcome.
  5. This thread is very quiet. Lovely covering outside here in Rollesby and snowing again!
  6. Roads in and around Norwich are absolutely treachorous. Just spent an hour and a half getting from Norwich to Rollesby(Near Gt Yarmouth) The A47 in particlualr was a nightmare, why are they so clueless when it comes to gritting???? Some really Beefy showers, quite beautiful to watch.
  7. So one full set of runs point to a colder outcome. (Is that including the ensembles?) Presumably it could all still change next run? Or does the model agreement inspire much more confidence. One thing about the models this year is the upgrading of cold closer to the time, feels like the (polar)opposite of previous years. I think the 06Z GFS and all of the 12z models are going to be awaited with crossed fingers this morning.
  8. There is still a lot of snow heading this way, if it continues overnight then it still may be fun and games tomorrow morning. Where can i see what the dewpoints are likely to be? The 850temps seem to support snow until monday morning.
  9. I am being picky as we have had lots of snow fall overall, just not as much during the daytime as I would have liked. I have been waiting for a big short sharp burst rather than a cumulative effect. Now we have radar and can easily get reports from other areas It's easier to feel let down. If you had asked me at the start of the winter if I would take this I would have bitten your hand off! Been snowing for hours off and on, beautiful to watch. Is it mainly due to the weather direction? Winds were predicted to have been more straight easterly than we have had.
  10. Quite frustrating here in Norwich, the most continous time I have seen the snow fall during the day and we are about a degree to warm! And as TWS said Norwich managed to miss many of the showers. (As we did in December as well) So near and yet so far.
  11. Lots and lots of little snow shower. Absolutely nothing overhead on the radar. (why is that?) Temps seem to high for it to lay so I am off out for a drive.
  12. Heavier snow shower now, and still nothing on the radar.
  13. Norwich seems to be thawing at the moment. Mainly rain wiith the odd flake here at the moment. Overall we have had lots of snow over the course of the week, it's mainly fallen ovenight though. And cerainly has not felt particulalry remarkable except for the lenght. Definitely better than the last few winters, but considering I had been waiting for a southerly jet and the fabed Greenland high I am left wondering what all the fuss is about.(From a purely Norwich based perspective) Massive blob just to my east though, and it's pepping up according to the radar a heavier shower may turn back to snow still. And it's till only the 10th January so lots of the winter still left!
  14. Norwich has has an uncanny ability to avoid showers this winter. Apparently near the coast they have quite a lot of snow showers this evening.(Gt Yarmouth way)
  15. Thanks Paul, I think it will be for the best. (No disrespect to the many South Easterners who have made excellent contributions)
  16. Hi how can we go about requesting a seperate thread for the two? The number of posts makes it very hard to find comments that are relevant to my area.
  17. Massive snow shower here in Norwich at the moment. Really bucketing it down!!!! TWS do you think these will hit Norwich a lot today? Thanks.
  18. Is it really a Polar Low? (I probably shoudn't question a professional!)
  19. Hi I am Nr3 (Sprowston Road) and we have had nearly 10cm now!!! I am confused by the weather graphics on the BBC as they contradict what is being said.
  20. Nice amount of snow outside here in Norwich. Lovely sight this morning. I hope we all gave a lucky day today!
  21. Just went through the precipitation charts from the 18z and Norfolk/East Anglia and then the South East is predicted a right pasting. Thursday from about 6 in the am throught to early hours Saturday for Norfolk then starting again on Sunday! I think back to the forecast I think it was Ian Mcascill - of the 1987? North Easterly. I wonder what the North Sea wil brew up for us? Anyone want to hazard a guess? Or even better show links to thise other precipitation charts - NAE?
  22. Lovely stuff here in Norwich, showers keep popping up on the radar coming across us! I wonder if they'll start closing more schools? The roads are now starting to look pretty bad.(Good for snow bad for tarvel) These weren't expected TEITS, so good hope for you still. Fingers x'd for all of us!
  23. Thanks for the info. My boss has asked me to keep an eye on things with regards to snow as we have about 100 people in our call centre to manage. The snow is really coming down quite heavily now - back to the radar for me!
