Well, my November knowledge is a little sketchy but there are a few that I remember -

2005 - memory sketchy but I think the first half or so was mild and wet and the last was dominated by northerly winds, my area happily receiving some of the heavier falls and accumulations. Just a nice month of two halves.

2016 - perhaps one of the more 'different' Novembers - a bit frosty and on the chilly side (in comparison to recent times anyway) and some settled weather albeit I did record some very severe localised flooding near me

2010 - most unusual to get such a deep spell of cold weather in the final week or so of the month which continued well into the following month

Then there are some which aren't my 'favourite' by any stretch but still stand out head and shoulders above others -

2009 - very mild (CET 8.6) with large amounts of flooding. Akin to this one so far I suppose. Yes I understand it's a horrible type of weather and flooding is very dangerous but from a weather fan perspective it doesn't mean it's not of interest. (But yes I understand it's not in keeping with the thread's title "favourites)(!)

2015 - Can't remember if this month saw a huge amount of rainfall or not but it was ridiculously mild (albeit I still had a brief cold snap towards the end). Following month Dec CET freightingly even milder

One more which is not really within my memory but I've read upon -

2001 - a cold snap occurred around 8th/9th, which, if I'm right (and someone may want to correct me), did see snowfalls down to low levels even in the south. Could this be the most recent November with such occurrence so early on in the month? As in I don't think there's been a November since with a cold snap as early as that or earlier. Someone may want to correct me. (Oct 08 an exception, though I'm specifically focusing on Novembers).

In November 2015 when I was living in Pagham, I mowed the lawns quite late in the month as it was so mild. The strong SW wind was helpful in drying the exposed front lawn whenever we had any period of dry weather.

You are correct, 2000 and 2012 are in top five. Top ten below

    1. 1872 __ 1284.9 mm ___________6. 1960 __ 1195.0 mm

    2. 1768 __ 1247.3 mm ___________7.  1903 __ 1160.3 mm

    3. 2012 __ 1244.4 mm____________8. 1882 __ 1146.2 mm

    4. 2000 __ 1232.4 mm____________9. 1887 __ 1144.1 mm

    5. 1852 __ 1213.0 mm___________10. 1848 __ 1133.1 mm

For no.9, I think you meant the year 1877. 1887 was a very dry year.

Not true. 2000 really worked overtime in the latter half of the year, not including April. January, March, June and July were all pretty dry. The wettest year ever is something like 1872 I think. 2000 ranks within the top 5 I think, but Roger may correct me on that.

1872 indeed was the wettest year in the EWP series. I hope we don't experience year like that in my lifetime - every month wetter than average and a year so dominated by low pressure with so few anticyclonic days according to Lambs Weather Types. People must have got really fed up with the rain.

I've know about this storm for nearly a week as proposing to travel 100 miles including M25 etcThursday evening.  Hopefully the worse will have passed by then.

Even if the worst of the weather is over by the time you travel, you may well be hindered by fallen debris such as trees been blown down.

I think that's very wise. I'm off work on Thursday and staying indoors.
Even areas with 50mph gusts will have impacts as the trees are in full leaf. It can take as little as a wayward sheet of plastic or a small tree branch on the overhead wires above railway lines to bring services to a grinding halt.
Expect train operators to run reduced and slower services on Thursday.

Looks like I will stay inside on Thursday as well - nothing planned anyway. There are plenty of trees round here in full leaf.

I am a little surprised to have got over 60mm of rain over the last day or so. Seems that on the whole the Peterborough area coped fairly well, there was some localised areas with high water level but they were all placed where this is allowed to happen to spare other areas.
It has been a strange Autumn. A lot of warm and dry weather, but we have also seen some very wet days and of course a rather early frost for the time of year.

Awful conditions over Suffolk though, we certainly don’t want a westerly dominated winter given our starting point in regards to water levels.

    Certainly don't want a winter like 2013/14.
