  1. Damp start on Deeside but it turned into a pretty good day with a high of 23.6c, a bit of sunshine to end the afternoon and ground dry enough to cut the grass which was desperately needing it. Even now, the temperature's still sitting up at 18.5c which is better that most days in August at this time of day.
  2. Decent day here apart from the ninja shower that popped up early afternoon. Apart from that it was a reasonably warm wind that was blowing with temperatures reaching 22c just after 5 though it plummeted fairly sharpish after that.
  3. That's the covid effect. Check out Champdogs.co.uk or the KC Assured Breeder list and steer well clear of scumtree, Pets4Homes etc. A responsible breeder producing pups from health-tested parents won't rip you off and prices shouldn't be higher that £1000-£1500.
  4. Great evening out in the local park with our youth group. Wee bit chilly once the sun set but the sky made up for it.
  5. Don't know about where you are, but the sky was a really funny colour here last night...if it had been winter, I'd have said it was a snow laden sky.
  6. Decent day on Deeside, outdoors in t-shirt all afternoon finishing off the tidy up after yesterday's demolitions. Today's maximum was 16.8 with very little wind to speak of. Surprised by the number of huge spiders that we've seen, not sure if it's a normal amount and just noticing them more with disturbing their homes but long time since I've seen them quite so large! Photo for scale and that was as close as I was getting
  7. In between the showers, it’s a pretty decent day. Just wish they’d skirt round us tho as dismantling my old shed ready for a new one being built next week and everything that was in it getting wet while I try to find places to store it in the other shed.
  8. Only good thing to say about today is that it's been dry pretty much the whole day. There was a wee bit of drizzle first thing but soon stopped. However, son's rugby boots are still trying to dry out after Tuesday's drenching, despite having been outside all day - he said it was like sloshing around in a puddle.
  9. Even more soul destroying when I’ve given in and put the heating on. At least it’s been dry for the biggest part of the day, just a short shower that didn’t register on my rain gauge but enough to be seen on the slate of the patio around 11pm.
  10. Not much I can add to what's already been said except, not only did we record 26mm of rain, my lockdown weight gain was worse than i expected. Line drawn and I'm hoping to shed a lot of it by the time we get our first snow...although if the temperature today is the start of a downward trend, that might not be as far off as I'd like!
  11. Today is the first day in quite some time that I've not been able to sit with the patio doors open, instead, I've put the heating on tonight. Dogs' equafleeces looked out for their walk tomorrow, I have a feeling they're going to need a bath too but shhh, don't tell them! Feel for all those in Stonehaven who are still recovering from the flooding 2 weeks ago as it looks like they'll be hit again tomorrow
  12. Write off of a weekend here due to trapped nerve/muscle spasm in my lower back but I did manage a short walk with the dogs this afternoon, primarily to pick up more pain relief. However it was a pleasant afternoon reaching a high of 20c but temperature dropped like a stone late afternoon and patio doors were firmly closed. Suspect I may need to put heating on tomorrow which doesn’t fill me with much cheer, it’s still summer for goodness sake!
  13. I'm in Banchory, been here for 30 years now and can't imagine living anywhere else. I think there are just too many home bakers in this neck of the woods
  14. As a former brownie and guide guider, (whose organisation's motto is 'be prepared') and who lives on Deeside, notorious for it's snow, I am never prepared for winter with the exception of salt for the path and a snow shovel in the boot. Tesco is 150m down the road, Morrisons is 150m up the road and the Co-op is 150m behind the house so no need to panic unless it's for pandemic shopping in which case I'm still struggling to get flour 6 months on!
  15. It’s been a reasonable day on Deeside, warmer than I thought it was going to be and made for a very pleasant afternoon walk. I even managed to sit out and enjoy the warmth for a bit until the breeze picked up. Everything loose is now packed away for the next few days however, I’m not making the mistake of leaving the garden parasol out like I did the last time we had high winds...Mary Poppins would have enjoyed that journey!
  16. Murky to start with here this morning but it's brightening up now and the air is fairly still. I think it has the makings of a pleasant day which will allow me to get more outside jobs tackled hopefully.
  17. My one has stuck around all summer...is this unusual?
  18. Turned out to be not too bad a day with a high of 20c which let me get some alterations done that were long overdue on my part. Mist descended just after teatime and last time I looked out the drizzle had started though not enough to register on my rain gauge.
  19. And the reason it felt considerably warmer was because it was! My browser hadn't refreshed the stats properly and we actually reached 23.8c...no wonder the dogs and I were feeling the heat ?? Glad I'm not the only one the gremlins have affected today tho...
  20. It’s been a lovely day here so far but clouds thickening and beginning to feel cooler at 17c - we did reach 19.7c earlier tho it felt considerably warmer in the sun. Dogs seem happier too now that the sun’s not beating down on them.
  21. Lovely day and warm by the time I left Bathgate just after 5pm, sunshine as far as Kinross then murky pretty much the rest of the way up the A90 with drizzle starting somewhere between Brechin and Laurencekirk. However, as often happens, by the time I turned off onto the A957 Slug road, it had cleared up and there were even a couple of patches of blue making an appearance by the time I got over the top of the hill and drove through Durrris. Hoping for a dry weekend to catch up outdoors and get laundry dry. Evenings are definitely drawing in now tho, noticeable change in the light levels indoors of an evening.
  22. Overcast and hazy in West Lothian this morning but by the time we got to Callander around lunchtime, it was a fairly decent day. Sadly, lost the clear skies by the time we arrived in Stirling mid-afternoon but it was bright enough. I enjoyed being able to wander around without the excessive heat of yesterday and the dogs, even more so.
  23. Lovely afternoon in West Lothian, very warm in the sun then off to South Queensferry as I’ve never been before, followed by a beautiful sunset this evening. What a difference a day makes.
  24. OMG that looks like the early local reports of one fatality are going to be grossly underestimated. Thoughts are with all affected - passengers, staff, emergency services and families
