  1. Finally looks like tiny flakes falling, what sna we had lying yesterday got a real scare overnight but paths looking icy. Here’s the current state of affairs from my pws, at least the radar’s looking better for me this morning. Good luck with the exam @LomondSnowstorm
  2. Decided to check the Netweather V8 radar and it's bl**dy snowing all around me, even the coast looks like they've got sna! I'm going to bed in a huff (patience isn't my strong suit when it comes to weather) to dream of blin' drifts, November/December 2010 and the winters I used to have as a kid in the 70s
  3. Seriously unimpressed this evening! After our surprise snowfall overnight on Sunday and our blue sky snow day yesterday, the skies today looked like they'd be full of promise. Indeed, we had a wee snow shower this morning and I had high hopes that more would follow but no, in typical Scottish 'snatching defeat from the jaws of victory' fashion, Banchory's sna has all but disappeared thanks to 5.59mm of pishy wet sleety stuff that's been falling pretty much all evening. Currently 2.4c/1.0c but the wind is coming from the east so as a true Scot, I'm nae giving up just yet. At this rate, the only thing that'll survive till morning will be the dogs' ice speedway which has been in place since the snow that fell before Christmas. And to compound my woes, the radar on Underground shows snow all round about me except overhead.
  4. @Blitzen it must be embarrassing for them as meteorologists having to spout the scripts that they're given but as with most things Beeb, they'll have to toe the corporation's line I suspect. Gone are the days when I take what is produced by the Beeb in general as being gospel. Back to the weather, I was just out with my recycling and it feels a good bit warmer than the -4.5c that my station is reporting but the snow that fell on Sunday night is definitely the good kind and feels great underfoot.
  5. Lowest temperature of the winter here overnight at -7.5c, currently -5.1c and rising but we have cloud cover so I’m assuming that’s why.
  6. For those playing temperature bingo tonight, here's the Dee Valley and Strathdon's numbers. Currently at Chateau Sanserit, my pws is showing -5.7c/-6.8c, who knows what it'll drop to later.
  7. Now that should keep @Mair Snawhappy! It'll certainly keep me happy if it comes off
  8. I love waking up to this kind of view! Temperature hovered just under zero for the best part of the night, then dropped to -1.3 just as the sun was coming up. Now sitting at 0.9c, DP -0.5c. I can’t wait to see what this week has in store! Bring it on
  9. Have thoroughly enjoyed lamppost watching this evening, around 2cm of sna fallen so far and hopeful of a wee bit mair before morning. Just realised that my snow shovel (the very same gti model that @Klippiepossesses) is still in my shed...do I get son to retrieve it in morning or will that jinx everything? Currently -0.4c / -1.3c / 1005.08hPa, feels a lot colder tho when standing at the back door trying to get two dogs to leave their playground.
  10. You and me both, my daughter wasn't born till 1992, KW is the same age as my son ...I feel old!!! And I also remember 'the wrong type of snow' and laughing hysterically at the saft southerners at the time.
  11. So much for my bird watch, I think it was just too cold for our feathered friends to come to the feeders today. Light snow just started falling in Banchory which wasn't forecast as far as I could see, coinciding with the temperature beginning to fall from the heady heights of 0.8c maximum. Current temperature 0.2c, DP -1.3c , fingers crossed it gets heavier and gives us a decent covering at long last.
  12. Surprisingly, only reached a low of -5.5c here, currently hovering at -4.0c, cloudy but calm so a decent day for doing my bit for the RSPB.
  13. As I’m struggling to sleep, what better way to spend the time than looking at different weather stations stats? Current temperatures being recorded on Wunderground along the Dee Valley and around Strathdon show that we could wel get close to that -18c by the end of the night that @Mr Frost mentioned. I know these aren’t official stations but I don’t suppose they’ll be too far out?
  14. Temperature continuing to fall thanks to broken cloud overhead, now -2.3c. Great view of the moon however, still trying to get to grips with the low light camera app tho.
  15. Woke up to a light dusting of snow this morning and the house feeling absolutely baltic...it helps if you remember to set the heating to come on a little earlier when it’s cold overnight. Not too bad a day, sunshine for the most of it with a couple of light showers of something white. Overnight lows of -4.0c/-4.8c, max’ing out at 4.7c/2.6c around 2pm but falling since to current temp of 1.7c/0.1c. Very little breeze to speak of and pressure at 1014.9. Plenty of snow clouds visible towards the coast, just wish they’d come further inland. The ice speedway is still rock solid, tested it out on my journeys back and fore to fill the feeders so I can count birds for the RSPB bird watch.
  16. The last pic looking towards Bennachie, is that taken from near the Sir Arthur Grant Centre? From 3.4c at midnight, the temperature dropped to 1.2c at 10am before climbing back up to 3.4c just before 2pm, coinciding with the sun breaking through on Deeside. Temperature started dropping away as the sun started to set and is now down to -0.9c. Netweather's own 16 day forecast is showing snow for Banchory next week, I live in hope. (While I love the cold weather, my numb hand is not coping well with feeling cold all the time, I really hope the nerves finish repairing themselves before the even colder weather arrives.)
  17. Obviously, living on the very edge of the yellow warning area was never going to bode well for me. After heavy rain for best part of the day yesterday, I've woken this morning to a horrible sleety rain falling which is turning my garden into a swimming pool due to the canine ice speedway that continues to hold firm. I'm dreading seeing the state of the grass once this has all gone. Currently 1.6c, DP 0.6c, both of which are the lowest since midnight (3.4c/2.4c).
  18. Just one word to describe today, crap. It started well enough, looking like the sun could break through or at worst, it would only be light cloud but no. It’s been baltic all day, even the dogs weren’t as keen to go out for long. Also, a lot of birds at the feeders today so maybe @Northernlightstheory could prove to be a good one. Overnight low of -3.5, lifted to a high of 1.1c and hovering around 0.5c since around 5pm. Current DP is -0.5c. Radar showing showers close by but all fizzling out before reaching Banchory tho we had some drizzly stuff earlier this evening. Suppose I just need to remain patient and keep practicing crossing my fingers on my dodgy hand (in the name of snow physio of course).
  19. Eshaness webcam just a few minutes ago. Meanwhile in Banchory, it’s -2.2c under clear skies so it may drop still further.
  20. Frost still on the ground but nothing on the cars. Radar was showing showers in the area but nothing falling here that I've seen. Temperature climbed steadily yesterday evening from -2.1 at 7pm to 2.6c by midnight then has hovered between 2.8c and 1.7c since. After a cloudy start, the sun has broken through now and it's looking like being another lovely winter's day as any showers that are showing on the radar seem to be either dying out to the north or passing just to the east of me. @Mair Snawmight be lucky enough to see some wintry ppn tho
  21. After an overnight low of -6.4c, it reached the heady heights of 2.9c here in Banchory. Sun shone the whole day and I even ventured out to the supermarket Temperature has now fallen back below zero and currently at -1.9c with DP-3.8c Beautiful sunset once again.
  22. After reaching the heady heights of 2.5c this afternoon, the temperature fell away quickly and is currently -3.5c, DP -5.5c. It’s certainly a chilly one! Sunshine over Little Kerloch this afternoon looking towards the Durris Transmitter and looking over towards Cairn O’Mount
  23. Morning all, hard frost here on Deeside and the ice speedway in my garden has returned. Overnight low of -4.1c at 8.20am, currently -3.9c, DP -5.0c, pressure 996.95, clear skies so looks like being a decent but chilly day.
  24. No upset caused to me, I understand your snow-drought pain! I was hoping for more excitement tbh.
  25. Precisely why I’m refusing to go outdoors just in case I damage my shoulder further. Hope only your pride was injured Currently 4.0c, DP falling at 0.0c and we have blue skies and a light breeze.
