  1. its peaked at 29.4c here in North London, 50% humidity and cloud cover about 3 oktas it's not pleasant despite that humidity reading
  2. I'm going to visit Lincoln for the first time this weekend but the forecast looks a bit dodgy; how do you think it will pan out?
  3. You’re right about London and comparisons to major cities on the continent, Rome being wetter than London is one of those cities which people find unbelievable. However, I’d be amazed if that were still true - in the last 7/8yrs London seems to have got a lot wetter, I’d obviously need to look at some charts to confirm this.
  4. Lovely as this sunshine & dry weather maybe, where are the April showers that used to be almost guaranteed every year? I fear this prolonged dry spell will eventually reverse (and balance itself out) and we'll be stuck in a 6-7 week-long trough at some point this year. There seems to be no balance in our weather anymore, well not in the South East at least.
  5. I'd hope / expect that a good amount of snow patches would survive this year because of favourable conditions that stretch back to December, with only a few very brief milder interludes in that time. From what I've seen the freezing level in the Central / Northern Munros has been stuck around 400m all winter
  6. So it looks like yet another BBC forecast for the SE from last night is completely wrong, patchy rain moving east fizzling out as it does so is what they said, well it’s steady rain now with some dark echos on the radar in the region, all heading up from France and not the from the west! Since their tie in with Meteogroup they’ve become very unreliable. Their graphics always seem to overemphasise snowfall too.
  7. Temps rose to 1.8 this morning but fell quite rapidly to 0c around lunchtime and have been there ever since. There might not be much snow lying on the ground here anymore but with the windchill added this is proper cold for North London.
  8. Temperatures at 1.7 now after an overnight low of -1.1. Just had a decent 20min flurry which was unexpected, so that’s 4 days on the trot where it has snowed here, I’ll take it even though it’s not what I had hoped for in terms of depth & severity. Ps it’s positively brilliant when compared to the mild wet dross of the previous 2 winters. Enjoy your streamers you lucky people IMG_0486.MOV
  9. Started coming down heavier now with temps dropping from 1.4 to 0.7 IMG_0481.MOV
  10. Temps climbing rapidly here now, up to a balmy 0.6c, not sure why as it’s still overcast. It stayed at 0c & below all day yesterday but the wind was from the NE, today it’s more Easterly
  11. More of the same so far today with persistent light snow falling with a bit more intensity from time to time. Hopefully this streamer continues all day. Probably about 3cm lying on the grass... Temps at 0c exactly, a rise of 0.4 since 8am.
  12. Finally some intensity with big flakes falling at last - temp just dropped to 0.2 to -0.2 in this heavy flurry
  13. Overcast with intermittent snow flurries here in N20, probably a 1cm still lying from last night. It's -0.4 now after a low of -1.6 overnight, hope it stays sub zero all day, that is such a rarity
  14. First few flakes in North London, it got down to -0.3 overnight, it’s 1.3 now
  15. If this was a band of rain that was heading in tomorrow you could bet your bottom dollar that it would rain north & south of the M4
  16. Temperatures continued to rise to 2.9 overnight but at 6am they had fallen to 2.1 with heavy snow falling 45 mins later they’ve dropped to 1.6 first proper snow I’ve seen since 2015 IMG_0393.MOV
  17. Well those inner city temps look a bit on the low side to me - I’m out in zone 4/5 and it’s definitely above freezing here. There maybe a few frost hollows nearby where it could be zero or a bit below I guess
  18. Temperature dropped to 1.8 earlier but has risen to 2.2 now thanks to increasing cloud cover. Chances are it will be over 3c by the time the front arrives in 5/6 hrs, that will be mostly rain or sleet I think
  19. Just watched the nationwide bbc weather after the 10pm news and their graphics showed widespread snow earlier today - all over the east & south east of England. The temperature at that time in my part of Hertfordshire was 5.1c and it rained all day. Ever since MeteoGroup took over the BBC weather forecasts, ‘a daily express effect’ has been evident in their predictions / observations no matter what time of year it is, their forecasts are the least accurate out there from what I can see.
  20. Some brief light rain in Barnet, Temp is 3c so anything heavy should turn more wintry
  21. As I've said in some other posts, as far as South Wales was concerned nothing compares to 1982 or I think ever will in my lifetime (I was born in the 70's). This was the state of our streets for a whole month and the snow was still lying in place when we had our St Davids day school photos almost 2 months later. A month off school, minus double digits at night, 5 foot icicles hanging of window ledges, 5m drifts - it was something you'd expect to see in in NW Canada or near the lakes.
