    Nothing more embarrassing than the sight of overseas cricketers 'warming up' for the days cricket in woolly hats, 3 woolly jumpers and 2 pairs of trousers in the middle of July in the UK. Global warming ?

    I wish climate change arrives quickly. So we get a proper summer instead of the boring cold windy wet insipid dross that plagues us each year. I do get annoyed when weather forecasters announce in June that the jet stream is usually far North. Reality is it is far far South and we are bombarded with unpleasantness.

    An 11 or 12 day summer in Dudley over the 12 weeks so far. That is at least 25c and sunny in my book. Otherwise dreary cold and a times wet. It wont go down in my memory banks as a classic.

    In Dudley it was jolly nice up until June 2nd. Then it was rubbish until 4 days at the end. 2 days at the end of July. And 3 or 4 hot days early August. So probably a 12 day summer in terms of proper warmth.

    Strange day in Dudley. Downpours this morning. A few hours of dry weather this afternoon including a brief slice of warm sunshine and then rain setting in about 6.30. Quite cool now.

    Fair day in Dudley. Not particularly hot. About 22c. No rain until a few spots this evening. As for Spiders. I once ushered one out of my house via the front door. With a brush. I kept it going to the edge of the drive . Turned round and walked back to the front door. And the spider was coming back. Once again ushered away with the brush.

    I will say in Dudley of the 72 days of summer we have had 7 maybe 8 at 25c or above which in my book is decent summer weather . Today being the best yet. July not a washout but cool dull. Which explains my grass being yellow.

    If you like the heat make the most of it. September to April is essentially cool. Give or take the odd extremity.

    I've just been out for a few beers Dudley way. Beautiful this afternoon in the beer garden. My phone said 29 degrees. Just walked back down the road and enormous black cloud A few heavy rain drops. 24 degrees. Much improved overall on yesterday's mediocre 24 max.

    Nothing hot in Dudley . Freezing cold till dinner time. Then a brief warmish spell of about 23/24 degrees mid afternoon. Then just walking down from the pub cold again. Nagging NE breeze.
