  1. That tiny cell that suddenly appeared south of bexhill in the channel quickly grew to hold a small but hefty downpour of large noisy convective drops, of course it electrified as it left the bounderies of Bexhill and is now merrily bumbling around north of us. Keeping a firm eye on the channel
  2. Just watched this in the distance hop over from France and grow from one small cell that struggled into the joy it is now. so tantalisingly close but no cigar
  3. Milky mill pond. Hazy. Just spent some time watching the stuff in the distance exiting France heading up the channel to Dover as usual. cracking storm but not quite close enough, did hear a few “single syllable” booms though which were well odd and sort of made you ‘feel’ them in your ears as well as hear them. Roll on the early hours, though not looking as promising down here as it had previously but hey ho hopefully something.
  4. Felt like it was going to crack all day, oppressively muggy, the sun is out now and it doesn’t feel as sweat inducing but.. some people will laugh… my trusty storm headache has reared its head and the faint ringing sensation in my ears has started, and they’ve not been far from wrong yet.. let time tell, meanwhile praying the little cell (seems to be splitting) makes it and re-electrifies. Otherwise it’s going to be early morning channel watching.
  5. Can have my sun in exchange for a storm! It’s made it out at last despite a layer or muggy humid cloud all day.
  6. Any storm with any rates would be nice down here, even this morning’s offering stayed west of us down here in East Sussex - darn South Downs.
  7. Am away from home at the moment so any updates will be “on the run” Raining in uckfield briefly, some heavy convective drops.
  8. Just watched various patches of lightning around us for about 2 hours, mostly Hastings/dungeoness direction but some lovely flashes and great rumbles - was great to catch something after a hot hot day. Pictures coming!
  9. Bexhill seafront, wind picked up massively, followed in by some interesting clouds. Three drops of rain felt.. almost a relief
  10. I suspected as much, I saw it was showing 37 earlier. Parents in Bexhill recorded 37.2 at 15:16
  11. Herstmonceux currently reading 37 so our local record of 35 has gone today. My parents have a reading of 37 in sidley bexhill and I think the highest recorded here was 34. Hotter here than forecast, by 3 degrees
  12. As it’s been a bit of a non event I will share my picture of a non event anvil I spotted in the channel earlier this evening
  13. The grey skies from earlier have cleared and the sky is a beautiful clear blue, temp 21, dew point 15, humidity 67%
  14. Muggy muggy muggy down here in Bexhill on sea East Sussex, saw some lovely instability to my north northwest, sinister looking icecream clouds. Generally over cast here and did I mention muggy? Humidity rising.
  15. As promised,a couple of captures from dear daughter’s videos last night, not many because it was hard to predict the direction when they were further out and too bright once they were closer!
  16. Just trudged home from the bexhill seafront after a fantastic (and very wet and windy) storm chasing session with @LightningLover who will probably give a much better and more detailed rundown than me! Saw so many CG’s it was crazy - first time seeing the actual sparks at the bottom of a CG .. Awaiting any potential footage from our personal videographer (my daughter!) will upload when I get a moment.
  17. This excites this lightning freak down on the coast of east sussex
  18. Sitting here in bexhill, expecting a wave of storms initiating in France to creep close enough to just about see and then die, followed by storms that either initiate in the channel see Beachy head and blibble off north or storms that initiate just north of bexhill and are out of sight. here’s hoping I’m wrong
  19. Down on bexhill seafront and alovely flash that made us jump! Excuse the whooping and hollering IMG_2675.MOV
  20. Rough on the coast in bexhill, wind took a chunk out of our beautiful bandstand at the de la warr pavilion, trees down, roof tiles flying in the main shopping street, structural damage to the odd building, and… a Christmas tree on the beach
