That tiny cell that suddenly appeared south of bexhill in the channel quickly grew to hold a small but hefty downpour of large noisy convective drops, of course it electrified as it left the bounderies of Bexhill and is now merrily bumbling around north of us. Keeping a firm eye on the channel

Just watched this in the distance hop over from France and grow from one small cell that struggled into the joy it is now. so tantalisingly close but no cigar

Yea the South East mate is a too big an area .. there's is the south east then there is Kent and Sussex we would have been better storm wise still stuck to Northern France or my case Belgium,I would like to see the bloke who let that bloody north sea through ...set like winter isn't it nothing hardly below m4 expecially the further south and east you go ...got tomorrow though lol
Ps is the channel still like a mill pond ? Not that I know what a mill pond is any more ..dried up here ..
Milky mill pond. Hazy.
Just spent some time watching the stuff in the distance exiting France heading up the channel to Dover as usual.
cracking storm but not quite close enough, did hear a few “single syllable” booms though which were well odd and sort of made you ‘feel’ them in your ears as well as hear them.
Roll on the early hours, though not looking as promising down here as it had previously but hey ho hopefully something.- 1

Quite tempting to call bust here in NW London for the second day in a row. Convergence zone is clearly to our NW - there appears to be no surface heating to our south to develop storms, and it has had that claggy cloud all day - the clouds just don't have that look.
But go outside and it feels like there will be a storm - or at least a downpour. And that is what real meteorologists go on, right? Feel.
Felt like it was going to crack all day, oppressively muggy, the sun is out now and it doesn’t feel as sweat inducing but.. some people will laugh… my trusty storm headache has reared its head and the faint ringing sensation in my ears has started, and they’ve not been far from wrong yet.. let time tell, meanwhile praying the little cell (seems to be splitting) makes it and re-electrifies. Otherwise it’s going to be early morning channel watching.

Reckon tomorrow might hold up something good for those along the south coast.
CZs setting up and just needs a bit of sun for them to kick off and go.
Can have my sun in exchange for a storm! It’s made it out at last despite a layer or muggy humid cloud all day.

its been a close but no cigar situation, most cells that pop up die away 5 mins later.
What we want is a nice big storm to move in from the channel with high lightning rates,
Any storm with any rates would be nice down here, even this morning’s offering stayed west of us down here in East Sussex - darn South Downs.

Just watched various patches of lightning around us for about 2 hours, mostly Hastings/dungeoness direction but some lovely flashes and great rumbles - was great to catch something after a hot hot day. Pictures coming!

Herstmonceux currently reading 37 so our local record of 35 has gone today. My parents have a reading of 37 in sidley bexhill and I think the highest recorded here was 34. Hotter here than forecast, by 3 degrees

Muggy muggy muggy down here in Bexhill on sea East Sussex, saw some lovely instability to my north northwest, sinister looking icecream clouds. Generally over cast here and did I mention muggy? Humidity rising.

Just trudged home from the bexhill seafront after a fantastic (and very wet and windy) storm chasing session with @LightningLover who will probably give a much better and more detailed rundown than me!
Saw so many CG’s it was crazy - first time seeing the actual sparks at the bottom of a CG ..
Awaiting any potential footage from our personal videographer (my daughter!) will upload when I get a moment.

Sitting here in bexhill, expecting a wave of storms initiating in France to creep close enough to just about see and then die, followed by storms that either initiate in the channel see Beachy head and blibble off north or storms that initiate just north of bexhill and are out of sight.
here’s hoping I’m wrong
