Summer 2021.... cloudy no real heat bits and pieces of rain. Bwark

Wow a flash and bang North West from Maidstone. The land is fighting back

It's an absolute myth that the channel kills off storms in summer. These storms pepped up over the sea and affected only south and east Kent and the far east of Sussex. Plus look at that stuff near cap gris nes right now. That definitely brewed up out to sea.

FYI, there is land on the far side of the Thames Estuary - it's called "East Angular" and people, like me, live there.
Understand that but I'm talking about the next 2 to four hours for thunderstorm activity. Beyond that it might catch east Suffolk.
-
If there's any decent thunderstorm activity in the next 2 to 4 hours, it will be scraping Hastings followed by folkestone and Dover, then maybe Ramsgate. Only my opinion.

Last Saturday night/Sunday morning it was bitter cold with a decent snow cover. 1 week later and it's like the south coast of Spain with hair dryer warm winds from Africa. That's the weather for you ay.

Jan 1996 , 1 day but severe cold. Dec96/Jan 97 long freeze. Feb 96 severe 2 day event . Dec 05 Kent clipper. Feb 2010 Kent clipper. These are the other events that I remember, but I'm getting on in years:-)

That's great news. Thanet did best in Feb 2012. I was living there. That was a genuine 15 cm. And it lasted a few days too

On Tuesday night I mentioned about the yellow/red (blob) area of precipitation on the radar just off the coast of Ramsgate, it remained all the way through last night also....what causes that? It was like a dragon's mouth firing the precipitation, didn't move and was constantly showing on the radar....?

Didn't achieve the heroic snow depths of the east Kent downs, but got a good extra covering overnight to destroy the bare patches and cover the roads. Its still fluryying even now at 6.20.wasn't expected in the west of Kent in my opinion

I think this is a big fail (again) by bbc weather. All that talk of clear skies and bone cracking low night temperature for kent and Sussex. It's cloudy still with light snow flurries at 6 am in the minus 10 coldzpot
-
The Kent streamer has crossed the m25. This is weird stuff. Thames streamer In the morning , then a mid Kent streamer at mid day, followed by an east Kent daggler during the evening and night. Then it backs to none and west Kent and south Essex get another chance.
-
Oh my. Looks like London will get caked,, and south Essex .. according to the radar

Good evening, I'm up East Malling way which did have some flakes from the very northern edge, but wasn't enough to settle after the morning sun. Did not do well out of today as the twig drifted south, obviously a bit of imbyism there!
Major disagreements on how cold it'll get tonight so will be interesting to see, -10c according to BBC...
EDIT: apologies if you've already received this, my new message box has this still in it so pressed submit to make sure
I will happily sacrifice the minus 10 for extra snow cover. The last few showers have properly covered up the bare patches and the roads. Minus 3 is my guess here with all the cloud

Any one know why the stuff that passed over faversham and isle of sheppey kept it's intensity even when it got deep into west Kent? I'd there a convergence zone?

Got another heavy burst now. However I've a question, the showers are clearly coming from the Ene now, however the snow in the street light is moving west. Any ideas.
The wind must have gone more towards ene because the snow band is moving west and it's got here. Second time today

It's clipped into Maidstone. I'm surprised.

If anywhere gets a thunderstorm tonight it will be the usual suspects of far east Kent Folkestone up to Ramsgate. Happens time and again on these summer night storm situations.
