  1. Well, It took me 3 hours to get into work this morning (from 06:30). Snow on the hills in Rossendale, Heavy snow in the Ribble Valley all the way to Addingham in West Yorkshire. Which reminds me.......I am never getting a rear-wheel drive car....ever.....again!
  2. Typical!!! The only presenter they have that is both accurate and funny. Rob is also pretty much the only one who does not treat you like an idiot and gives "proper" information about the forcast. Most of the ones they have give the most mundane forecasts. You now the ones... "a bit of rain here" "some wind there" "a patronising smile coming in from the west with no explaination at all". And Rob is also one of the few that will actually explain why we have the weather we have and "shock of shocks" actually give you the bigger picture outside of the UK. For me, they (BBC) can get rid of anybody else except Rob. He's the only thing my partner and I look foward to after the usual doom-and-gloom and over dramatized news the BBC seem to be intent on dishing out. Bl**dy BBC! Does this mean I can now "axe" my license fee as a cost saving measure against idiots?
  3. Snowing again! Just a quick shot of what it looks like here
  4. Hi! Fellow Rossendale here! Best be careful, we just had another heavy dumping of snow. Easily 7 inches here in the hills near Stacksteads/Waterfoot.
  5. Been snowing on and off for hours now. Got aanother 2 inches last night and all my hard work ploughing the driveway has been fuuitless...immediately started snowing again and got anther inch! About 6 to 8 inches of snow now an now signs of letting up :winky:
  6. I grew up in Worsley! We had an overnight minimum of -9.3 here (Last years record was -9.6) Currently -4.7, and can see the clouds moving in over the hills...here's hoping!
  7. Now -4.2 Think we might break last years record of -9.6 at this rate!
  8. Going to be REALLY cold in the hills of Rossendale tonight! The skies are clear and it's already - 3.6
  9. Suprised you were only at -3.6 considering where you are. We got -5.1 last night here
  10. You might find that the houses where the snow is melting off the rooftops have poor insulation. So the air temp is below 0, but the heat radiating out of the house up through the roof is melting the snow.
  11. We have 3 inches here! Currently -3.3 with an over night low of -5.1 Happy bunny here
  12. I agree! Hello fellow Rossendalian! I have to say we are pretty lucky up here though. We moved to the valley about 5 years ago and we have had snow every winter so far. I think we have our own little micro-climate as we seem to get more than anyone else in east lancashire ( alohtough being 300m asl helps!). I remember about 3 years back when we had about 6 inches here, while in Rochdale it was sunny with no snow at all!
  13. I have to say although I too do not condone theft, I think there is too much focus on the hacking of this data. I bet there is a flip side where everyone would think it was alright and cheer on the hackers! E.G. Headline: "Hackers steal data that reveals a cure for cancer that the goverment wanted to keep secret" BEFORE...anyone starts on that example, I am not saying for one second the government (any) would want to keep something like that secret, BUT you know what I mean. P.S. Think Watergate...do you think that info would ever have been released by choice? And dont pull the Freedom of Information Act on that one either...you can bet the data would have been destroyed eventually.
