Certainly a shift south showing on the recent GFS outputs. Take a look at the 0c Isotherm charts and compare the 00z and 06z. Clearly a trend south between the 2 model outputs. OK it may not be south enough to bring southern and southeastern areas into the equation but for those of you in central areas, ie Midlands North, you've a chance. It may even push further south. Then you would factor in the slide back southeastwards, if the colder air is in earlier then a few surprises further south on boxing day couldn't be ruled out. I think we will have a better idea on which way this potential new trend may go come the 12z outputs. We will find out if it was indeed a true signal the GFS has started to show or just false hopes.
