  1. It is blowing and has been blowing a hoolie here since yesterday evening . According to windy.com gusts up to 41 mph and I can believe that . Not much in way of rain thankfully. Feels chilly mind you but not surprised but it is a very nice holiday cottage . I could easily live here - funds permitting of course .
  2. Andy Bown thanks for explaining . its lovely here, listehing to the wind gusts while I'm cosy inside thanks to a lovely log burner. Going to Sennen Cove tomorrow and st Michael's Mount Monday. The weather after that is a bit pants but will plan to visit museums etc .
  3. TammasinWhiskers oh no I had no idea you had ceiling problems . That's not good . Alderc 2.0 it was mild to start off the day , but once the wind and rain got going it dropped from 12C to 8C by the time we got to our destination - it was 4.30pm though .
  4. TammasinWhiskers the wind is very windy- I'm in St Buryan near Penzance on holiday for the week . It's really picked up in the last hour but I'm not in the rain warning area. As to your question I've no idea I'm afraid but I know what you mean . On the journey down it was very heavy showers even before tonight's warning . It's lovely in Cornwall even with the rain and wind .
  5. Very strong gusts here now , we have a bathroom window that doesn't shut and the wind is gusting through that and rattling the bathroom door as well as hearing it rattle objects out in the back garden, as I said before I was not expecting it today .
  6. Rather blustery here in good old Somserset in the last half hour . Obviously not on a par with the rest of the country but interesting nonetheless. It has been very wet here today and very dark all day .
  7. At least we are out of the weather warnings for storm Jocelyn tomorrow, though I will be thinking of those in Wales and the North . I imagine quite worrying for those recovering from Isha
  8. Rain pelting down here as well, telephone wires swinging wildly around . No dipped lights though . Really feel for Scotland and the North West with the bad stuff still to come .
  9. Trees are falling here in Taunton Town centre and on the A38. Certainly windy here now , the North Somerset coasts must be very wild .
  10. The garden is as safe as can be , the gusts picking up in intensity as I tidied away . I'm inland so not expecting as bad as on the coasts but it's still bad enough .
  11. Goodness me didn't expect an Amber 24hours ago, I think I'll make sure the garden is as safe as can be. Just starting to hear a gust or two down the chimney . Stay safe everyone .
  12. Thank you for that @Dorsetbred, really appreciate it ., I haven't looked at the charts I admit and don't tend to but from what you've posted I can see the storm now . Thanks again.
  13. No, I guess not, I suppose I should have said I hope no one gets seriously hurt in the weather conditions. :-). My works car park is surrounded by tall trees . Could be interesting . Minehead which is 30mins drive from me has the Amber warning , that could see sand or the sea over the wall.
  14. Fair enough , I was hoping you'd say that, mind you it was very windy on thd south coast as I said, a old lady with walking frame was blown sideways. Her Son had to steady her . Here's hoping people are sensible and stay safe tomorrow and Monday.
  15. I'm in Taunton too and it does get surprisingly windy here and I'll be looking out for fences and such like . Its already gusty here this afternoon.
  16. I've been to Exmouth in Devon this afternoon . The sea was very choppy and the wind was difficult to walk in . I've looked on windy.com and the wind is already at 35knots . Is this Isha warming up and arriving early and also its on the south coast , I thought the main brunt of it was starting north Cornwall coasts , north Somerset, Wales coast and up through to Scotland later on . The Irish Sea also looks very stormy at 60knots .
  17. Just checked windy.com and yes the wind speed down there is 35 knots and stronger along further along the south coast . Stronger on the north coasts of Somerset and the Irish Sea is very strong at 60 knots . Maybe the front is coming in faster than we thought .
  18. Went to Exmouth . It was very cold , and surprisingly very windy . Waves breaking over the wall near the car park and difficult to walk into the wind . Further up the beach the waves were really being driven along the beach . Strange as Exmouth is South Coast. The storm isn't supposed to start until, tomorrow afternoon . How are you feeling on the cough front ? Any better?
  19. Beautiful sunrise this morning, but boy the sky red with black clouds , so, something is on it's way storm wise . Going out today then staying put tomorrow to prepare for the wind that might plague us .
  20. Yes it was noticeable here as well , deep red and oranges , then black clouds over the top . Thwf said its -2C at the moment , I guess then the temps may rise just before dawn ? I'm off to Exmouth and Exeter tomorrow before barricading myself in for Sunday :-) .
  21. The winter is nearly over isn't correct as to my mind spring doesn't start until 19th March , not the first . Also we can have snow in March as well as 18C so to say its all over is premature at best . I think looking too far ahead ( 2 weeks away ) and fretting over what we can't control isn't healthy . I'm enjoying the sunshine , the cold not so much due to health reasons but there is such beauty in these kinds of days that I think ah well enjoy the beauty of it and don't worry about the cold too much . I understand though the worry of more rain and potentially damaging winds and I hope its not as bad as it could be . It's a chilly 2C here in sunny Somerset at the moment the sharp frost not even melting on the cars at the front of the house .
