What does Judah mean by "Interesting but on an Island" . Do you think he means the ECM is a bit out of kilter.
I'm probably barking up the wrong tree here, but if that does come off that screams "turbo-charged jet stream" to me. Not good for cold prospects here in the UK.

So that's another winter of mild, mild mild eh? Not saying I'm surprised but I am disappointed.

It's about time we saw the back of warmth once and for all until next spring. Roll on the colder weather!

But we get months of cloudy, damp weather - often 9 months a year. The UK isn’t a sunny country by a long shot
I prefer the cloudy, damp weather, although cold, frosty and sunny is nice too in winter.

I think me and you has just gotta ... somehow... swollow the pill that cold winters and snow is gone forever. And that breaks my heart as much as yours I love snow sooo damn much. It hurt's that my babies don't get to enjoy the annual fun that I had as a kid It's just awful!!
I wouldn't say it's gone forever, but it's certainly going to get more difficult to get decent snow and prolonged cold across much of lowland England. And personally, I'm not buying the idea that this winter will be cold.

I am honestly amazed by that
If you'd have said "wind storms", I could understand but hard to see the appeal of damp and drizzle.
Sunshine this time of year is soft, it doesn't burn you and you will not get 32C let alone 35C, so nothing resembling extreme heat.
Well, that's your opinion. I prefer to see less sunshine personally.

Good for you!

Honestly most people don't want cloud and rain for a whole month.
I'd rather have cloud, damp and drizzle than "glorious" sunshine for a whole month, especially in Autumn.

So when is autumn actually going to arrive..? Can't wait for the first crisp, cool Autumn day.
I agree. Sadly, some on the mad thread are hyping up the prospects of yet another autumn heatwave. As if we haven't had enough heat already?

I sincerely hope not.

Autumn's really blown in here, this morn.
17c, chucking it down, blowing a hoolie. Much better than unseasonal warmth and sun, isnt it?
Funny you should say that...
Yes, proper autumnal out there today and imo better for it. Easier to do stuff around the house when I'm not sweating and sleepless after an overly warm night.

24C? Scarcely oppressive heat!
Very nice IMO, the sort of weather on that chart, if it continues for weeks as it did in 2011, does wonders in shortening the darker and duller winter months.
Well not everyone likes warm weather of any type, whether it's spring, summer or autumn. Personally I'm looking forward to the darker evenings and autumnal weather.

There is a chance of another warm spell at the end of the month but by then the sun will be a weak mess so we won't even notice it's 25c
I wouldn't be so confident 25c in late September will play out like that. The recent heatwave had some very warm nights, and the longer nights, weaker sun and shorter days did nothing to mitigate them.

I was feeling a little optimistic about the chance of a cold winter this year but this talk of a delayed IOD has concerned me.

It's been overcast here all day, not sure about the temprature but I'm pretty sure it's nowhere near 26C.

Today is the definition of "useable weather". I was able to get the lawn mowed without excessive sweating and am now enjoying the fruits of my labour with a nice sit down and cool drink in the garden. Long may this weather continue.

Have you sorted some air con? Or at least a portable unit for your bedroom. They’re not very expensive. For those several weeks of warmth per year you have to suffer through so terribly.
A SAD lamp doesn’t really do much for the 6-7 MONTHS that I and many others have to suffer through, but hey ho. And do feel free to help pay my extra heating bill for those long months! It’s called the Shetlands, you could move there? Rather than inflict suffering on everyone
Everything you said could be said straight back at you. You want constant heat and sun? Move to Florida.

Ideally I’d prefer slightly less humid air, but the warmth is lovely and days of blue skies and sunshine have been joyous. A week isn’t a long time and there are likely 6-7 months of mainly chilly damp gloom ahead, so this has been a nice boost against SAD, etc
A week of sleepless nights is long enough thanks. If you want warmth turn up the heating, if you want sunshine get a SAD lamp. Most of us cannot escape this heat.

Personally, I am sick to death of this wretched weather and can't wait for it to be over.

It’s a lovely warm evening, just been for a nice walk with the dog. Extremely rare for it to be so warm and dark at 8pm, it’s almost like being in the Caribbean.
It's hot, humid, nearly 4am and I'm wide awake and sweating. There's nothing lovely about this spell.

After a surprisingly foggy and cloudy start the sun has finally broke through. I was hoping it might stay cloudy for longer but alas it was not to be.

This is far from the ideal start to autumn that's for sure. The kind of heat some models are suggesting is uncomfortable at any time of year and it's only the relatively weak sun and short days that save it from being even worse; imagine this kind of set-up in mid-July for example.

Well isn't that typical - just as we cross into September the weather is set to warm up again. I know warmth isn't unusual for September but I was sincerely hoping we could put the threat of heat behind us now. Roll on October I guess.

It feels so much better out there today now the humidity has finally cleared. Let's hope we've seen the last of the real humidity this year.
