Our landscape would basically be like the moon without the sun!
I know you're just joking around, but absence of sunshine for any prolonged period is pretty serious stuff for any organic lifeforms (which we are). When Iceland suffered it's biggest volcanic eruption (Laki) in recent human history, the ash and dust clouds created by it, covered Europe for nearly a year and blotted out the sun, completely destroying all crop yields, killing off livestock and creating mass infrastructural issues. This was the primary spark for the French Revolution, amongst other large socio-cultural, economic and political issues in Europe at the time It's all well-documented.
Ah yes, because uprooting your entire life to a different continent across the other side of the globe, is the same as buying a little AC unit (or 2) to help deal with the few weeks (if we are lucky) of hot weather we get in a year
The idiotic layout and design of my home makes it impossible to vent a proper hosed AC unit. I suspect a lot of people are in the same boat.
Something is going to have to give. If this is the future, homes need to be designed for heat and flooding rather than cold

Nice breeze on the Yorkshire Wolds tonight, 15c outside, might have to close the bedroom window a tad as it cools off in the early hours!
Now you're just teasing

Slightly Dramatic!!! , If you never see the Sun again you wont have a lot to worry about, we'll all be dead
Never want to see the the sun outside of the winter months when its weaker than a McDonald's coffee then

Eurgh, tonight is disgusting. I am disappointed that we are experiencing such dreadful conditions in September. Never known a September evening to be so warm, its still 22c outside and not a breath of wind. House is now at 23c which, granted, seems to be cooler than a lot of you are enduring. Wake me up when it's Monday.
The leftover heat from each day is just making things worse too. Not a hint of a breeze either like you said. Just stagnant warm air

Option 2 definitely. Can't wait for it to end and nope I never see the sun again. I'm tired of waking up lethargic and unrested. I'm tired of my clothes sticking to me. Everything is just so much harder when the weather is filthy like this

The day on day residual heat build up in my house is bordering on suffocating. Hope to god I never see the sun again

The best place to live now is in Lerwick, Shetland Islands where the maximum temperature reached 15°C with 95% humidity. In Lerwick they are getting drizzle and fog. Tomorrow Lerwick highest temperature will be 21°C .
Sounds like paradise

See Beka, that's what happens when you cross to the dark side. Weren't you one of us, originally?
Just got up from my Afternoon nap and our west facing bedroom is like bl--dy furnace, even with a fan on.
Now downstairs in our east facing lounge and it's a bit cooler but also with a fan on.
Just said to 'er indoors we might need to put a second fan on
Did anyone see the Forecast of Chris “Guy“ Fawkes -
Evidently, if 32.2C is reached in this horrendous spell, it will only be the 5th time in the last 100 years that the highest temperature has been recorded outside of the 3 Summer Months, namely September.
It now looks as if the Weekend is going to be as bad and we'll have to wait until early next Week, to get any relief from this muck.
Below, are the recent readings, from nearby London City Airport.
Thankfully the relative humidity isn't too bad but is likely to worsen, soon.
Just taken B.P. medication but need one to lower my core temperature.
'Er indoors is just about to serve up cold chicken salad.
Roll on next Week!!
Regards,
Tom Q.

Love the way so many disagree with you....bit daft really aren't they,,,its the heat haters thread
Maybe they got bored of the mad thread and went for a wander
2 minutes ago, Penguin16 said:I’ve got to say for me at least that the talk of heat in September being manageable is utter crap. Can’t wait for this to pass.
It definitely seems to be an IMBY situation. Many places in the same region have gotten away with the highest temp values compared to what I've experienced here. Never do well out of an easterly where I live

After this muck ends, it wouldn't brother me if I never saw the sun again

No issues here, better than waiting for a 20c day up north just to take my top off .
I'm in t shifts with no jacket at 12c. I'd swap with you any day as it's so much easier to warm up than it is to cool down

It's not been to bad here outside high of 25, coastal and have had a moderating east wind, but I think things ramp up soon, wind direction changes. Indoors however it's 28⁰ right now, and I wish my bed was in the garden.
Let's hope not
I don't envy anyone living in the south east. Having said that, even Lancashire doesn't escape the muck from plumes or easterlies like it used to.
Cut the UK in half. Float the northern half to where Greenland is, and the southern half to the Azores. People can pick where they go

Yep, as I said in the model thread, this time tomorrow the breakdown will be at the end of next week!
You must be a riot at parties
Seriously though it's like pulling teeth whenever troughs and euro highs are involved. I think I'll have a breakdown before it does

I think we've made 27 degrees today, my sensor I think is 3 degres too low. Currently says 24 degrees, went up to 27.4 degrees, which ties with car thermometer earlier this afternoon.
Peak of the heat probably Thursday, tomorrow sees more of a SW flow. Chance of thunder slim, but could be a surprise.
Thankfully the weather looks like holding through to Sunday, not quite as warm by the weekend but still low to mid 20s..
Lucky you lol. Cumbria always seems to be north of the borderline for this kind of stuff. A good chunk of the country could see low 30s over the weekend and I can honestly see heat related hospital admissions due to night time temps not falling.

it feels like the world has been turned upside down weather wise.
Was the same in may when we had weeks of easterly based high pressure. Southern Europe was stuck under low.

25c max here today and now down to 16c outside now. House is at 20c.
Whilst I am extremely thankful that this is happening in September, it really does make me worry for future summers as this looks like being yet another unprecedented spell of warmth. To the extent that I am considering bringing forward my long term goal to move to Scotland.
Still 19c here with a daytime high of 28c. It's why I absolutely despise easterly winds. We seem to be some kind of localised heat dome.
How anyone can enjoy this is beyond me. Sunshine over rain, I get. But in what universe is this pleasant?
As expected, the GFS is not going to let this go....

Hi guys. Been out the loop recently. Anyone know how the north west is expected to fare with this event? I have a friend that is supposed to collect a couch tomorrow evening and she's concerned with how the wind might affect her van due to it being higher than a car if you get my meaning. Much appreciated
