Today's highest maximum was 13.4C at the London Weather Centre in Central London. Today's lowest minimum was -0.6C at Redhill Aerodrome in Surrey.

The highest official maximum today was 20.1C recorded at Gravesend in Kent. Next highest was 19.9C at the London Weather Centre, just off Trafalgar Sq.

Absolutely amazing night. Very clear memories of listening to the tiles being ripped off and the garden furniture cluttering outside. Got no sleep at all that night. I think the 'best' thing about it was that it happened in the night, for 2 reasons: obviously if it happened during the day it would have caused a lot more problems and deaths but secondly the fact it happened during darkness made it seem that little more 'spooky', if you see what I mean.

My most memorable weather event is 10 August 2003 in London. 2nd place: January 1987 3rd place: December 1981 Funny how everyone else seems to go for winter! Maybe it's because I live nr Redhill Aerodrome I'm used to winter cold...
