This is the thing Marcus. The surf and storm surge will undoubtedly get up. Wondering if even Cat 1 storm surge will affect the N.O levees. Although Rita is forecast to hit Texas, the amount of churning up she'll do in the warmer waters will surely affect much of the GoM shoreline??
The 12Z GFDL brings the pressure down to around 938mb in 36 hours :blink:

Yeah next 72hours i think and all of the GOM shoreline will be affected by this hurricane. The storm surge forecast is about 5-8Feet maybe higher. The center of this baby is picking up waves as high at 35Feet

At the moment , Rita is forecast to not hit any major land but it may do in the next 105Hours

The BBC wont have 24hr coverage for the hurricane. They may do on bbc news 24 which starts after 1am 2moz

New Orleans is looking safe to me this time ( Hopefully ) The risk is there mind you
