  1. Very interesting article

Signed up today, have lived on the South Coast for many years.

Remembered small vigorous Channel Lows in the 70's

    Live in the Worthing area

No snow plenty of wood :wallbash:

    My 1st posting

Hello and Welcome to the forum, nice to have you on board :D Interesting article....love the part that says the road from Ilminster to Honiton was completely blocked by three lorries. -0.01% that happening again on the A303!! (although you never know) and drivers were being advised to carry snow chains with them...wtf!!!! haven't seen snow chains before, then again Im only 27 :p Thanks Mr Data for the article

  2. I think people are underestimating the winds slightly. Trees are in full leaf and especially in high rainfall they can fall down much easier so we can't rule out the potential damage, Winds i will say may range from 40MPH-60MPH perhaps 70 in more exposed and coastal locations.

Yes I have to agree with you on this one.....plus could there be a chance just behind the rain band of possibly very nasty squall lines with imbedded TS??

  3. I know its the wrong time to post this considering there are severe floods across most of the UK, but I certainly didn't realise there was a tornado across the South Hams district of Devon on the 19th July

Saw these photos on the BBC Devon website, looks quite a powerful one and pretty certain judging my the photos that it did touch the ground around Salcome/Kingsbridge. Any reports of damage around there??

  4. Hi folks, well an intresting day weather wise in my neck of the woods and this subject deserved its own thread I thought

Been out in Brean most of the morning with lovely warm sunshine, then this little beauty showed up across the bay over/near Bridgwater (possible Cannington/Combwich?)

As far as I can make out it looked very much like a FC dropping out of a very stormy sky - it was the only torrential looking shower in the area.

Please bear in mind I caught it on my mobile phone camera - although it has a 3.2 megapixal camera but it only has digital zoom.

What do you folks reckon? obviously it was to far away to observe any rotation but it did drop very suddenly before retreating back up into the cloud within a minute or so.

This was the storm the 'possible' FC dropped from

and these two photos show what i believe to be a FC

I must add that no other scud was visable below the cloud line if you know what I mean.

(As I mentioned earlier the camera was at full digital zoom so quality is very grainy in parts)
