  1. thanks for the info - I've just gone outside meself and I think it might be time to join Noah in building that boat he he!

you can use my sea cadets unit's viking SMB (slow motor boat) :D:D lol as i'm in the sea cadets :D as a instructor

  2. you guys in the west having all the fun not fair really need some rain hear in the east and a storm or to plz

    andy,

my dad has just come back from a call up ystrad mynach (he is in the fire service as a station officer), apparently the railway embankment has collapsed and the trains have been stopped, and there have been instances of lightning bolts going through houses, and the A470 is closed, apparently it is like a river, so is the caerphilly mountain road,

    cheers

    rob

  3. Just above Ponty station, on top of the Graig hill - we just had a great storm - loads of thunder - CGs etc - very unexpexted really

Still exteremely dark here - and raining heavily

i'm in heath cardiff, and it's looks dark towards the north east :D , and the cloud has been really funny , light and dark swirling, :D

not sure what is going on though???? :)

I think it will ease soon- hopefully as I need my sleep got to go to stroud on stocktake tomorrow

    cheers

  4. Still no rain here as yet - its only 15 or so miles away. Very interesting cloud formations to my west though, the sort you see during a typical 'plume' scenario. High and 'bubbly' underneath to them similar to a blanket of cotton wool. Must be very unstable air up there

I can confirm lightning and thunder/ torrential rain here in cardiff earlier

just finished work, and I was watching it lol :) , car park next to matalan was flooded :)

  5. Hey guys,

Im not sure about this, I havn't heard anything..yet, but i just took this photo and it seems thundery? :wallbash:

EDIT: Tbh the camera hasn't got the colour so good, but it seems much more intense then shown.

It looked like that earlier in cardiff, with yellow sky as well  :o

rained a bit then stopped :(

  6. It's just started snowing again here (north-west Devon between Hatherleigh and Holsworthy). As this wrap around crosses back into north Devon and north Cornwall there could be some further big accumulations as the front stalls. PPN will have pepped up off the sea too, so looking quite good right now (fingers crossed).

Not sure how far inland this is going to make it though. It may stall at the foothills of Dartmoor on the north side.

i'm on earlies tomorrow in work and it is going to be fun driving to work tomorrow if at all lol

heavy snow here in cardiff, bring it on B) B)

taken the car out already playing it is like a icerink , got stuck earlier but got out

    cheers

  7. Even if people cannot Chase tomorrow, I would urge you to take your Camera with you tomorrow, there could be quite a few funnel cloud reports as the convergence zone is going to be huge, from the west country to London all the way up to the wash and accross to the West Midlands, showers could even be more torrential than today. I am taking my camera with me everywhere tomorrow!!

    Paul S

going to be fun for me in work tomorrow as i work on the barrage lol,

won't be best pleased if mother nature decides to have a pop at cardiff lol

  8. Looks like another band of moderate rain/showers will arrive after midnight - a bit of a repeat of this afternoon really, with the dregs of Normandy Thunderless Showers.

Tomorrow that drated onshore SW wind convection kill-force field arrives and a good 10 to 12 hours sunshine and blue sky will result whilst convection and storms explode 50 miles or so to my north :shok: .

Ah well - to the next potential interest - perhaps in the first part of next week.

    Tamara

    peeps

what is the rain in the south west doing is it intensifiying or dying? also any sferics from it??

  9. i think it's outrageous that media organisations still lap it up when they should be able to see the accuracy is really dodgy - for example the "3 sets of 100 MPHDecember storms" - forecast for the only period this winter when the weather actually went quiet - but which PC will probably say transmogrified into the New Year's Eve "event".

this sort of hyperbole just denigrates proper professional forecasters,.

for snow to happen in january, its possible look at jan 1996 etc

we had snow then, but we dont know what the outcome of the 12z run until later so we have to wait and see

    lads any ideas? :cc_confused:

Real Radio 105-106fm no snow forecast?

  10. The weather here has become increasingly worse over the past few hours. Had a few flashes of lightning about 30 mins ago, with loud thunder. Calmed down a bit now, though.

i can confirm the lightning saw it to the right of me my study faces west with a north facing window and i can confirm thunder as well

it was about 23:44 to be exact (pc clock)

  11. Well I've always believed people shouldn't be attacked when they issue LRF's and then they go wrong (goodness knows, I've issued enough forecasts that have gone wrong over the years  )

However, in this case I think Piers should be held to account. He is clearly using his forecasts to try and make political points and as such he should be made to answer for the things he says.

daily express never shut up about this artic winter they said the same last year

anyway welcome to net-weather gavin from myself
