  1. well, seeing as there is rain falling and thunder rumbling to my east as I type I thought I ought to start a new thread..............nothing showing on MET radar 19:00hrs! WFM
  2. Hello All, How wonderful to be hearing you all chat about the Swiss Alps with such fondness. Myself and my new wife to be are off honeymooning on Monday to Grindelwald, so watch this space for a few piccies on our return. The Alps in winter for skiing are amazing, but I think i almost prefer them in the summer months, the alpine meadows in bloom, the marmots making the funny noise that only marmots do, and miles of miles of trails to treck in the clean fresh air.......... wonderful! Paul. MODS: Sorry, i know this has diddly squat to do with Environment Change, but please allow a married man to be his moment for reminiscing............
  3. Andy, You are not alone!!!!! We had something that we nicknamed the "Magic Bee", which only seemed to appear when we were sat at our patio table......... It too flew back and forth with chunks of leaf tissue, filling in the sunken screw holes on the underside of the wooden table. In fact, it may well have migrated to Wiltshire, because it has been conspicuous by it's absence these last few days Paul.
  4. Just thought I'd report on the tremendous amount of rainfall that fell here in the early hours.........went to bed with 2.7mm reading on the rain guage, by the time 7.30am had come around there it was reading an astonishing 46.7mm.........44mm since midnight! I was wondering about the accuracy of the guage, but MET stations at Lyneham and Brize Norton have reported very similair catches. That was nigh on 7 fold the total rainfall for June (7mm)in the space of a few short hours.............
  5. jun_06.xls Quite an exceptional month here too, certainly in terms of lack of rainfall, where we missed anything convective at all! Total of 7.5mm (good if you don't want to be mowing the lawn every weekend B) ), but not so clever for my customers crops Very warm as well ( I compare my temperature data to the Met office Oxford 71-2000 averages), although living on a housing estate, despite the thermometer placed in the shade facing north east, i accept that the heat is amplified to a fair extent! Check out attached spreadsheet if you wish............ WFM

  10. Ok, so here's my effort............Scheihallion, snow topped on New Years day, 10 seconds before being hit on the back of the head with a snowball Apologies if the file is a tad large...........any advice on reducing the file size (if necessary) would be much appreciated!!!
  11. Well, yet another below average rainfall month here, probably not aided by the fact that we mustered only 3mm of precipitation from Wednesday nights storms, which whilst spectacular visually, didn't drop significant water for much more than 5 minutes. Anyways, my figures as follows: Average daily max: 22.4 Average daily min: 12.23 Overall average: 17.31C Total rainfall: 39.6mm (I'm rapidly starting to wonder if my guage is properly calibrated..........is anybody else vaguely local to me experiencing such low rainfall........? Paul.
  12. Currently 17.4C, following overnight "rain" of 2.4mm ( I was expecting more, but the echoes seemed to go around us here), and overnight low of 14.4C. Pressure dropping at 1003mb.
  13. Currently clear and sunny after overnight low of 4.7, presently 9.7C, pressure 1036 and not a cloud in the sky, hurrah B)
  14. Testing, testing, first time novice post as I am stuck at home with baited breath for the delivery man to appear at any time from now till 6pm, yawn........ Currently 18.2C Bright but overcast Pressure 1008hPa and steady Awaiting these showers!
