  1. Someone just posted this on efestivals: Is there the slightest thread of truth in it, or is it just wishful thinking?
  2. I agree with WiB - nowhere to sit down Friday and Saturday, even if rain wasn't falling. I remember getting totally stuck in the deep sticky mud inside the urinals near the Pyramid and having to get pulled clear by some other helpful souls. Was funny once I'd got out but the propect of falling over was too horrible to contemplate... Having said that, I'm sure WiB's forecast for 2005 was overly optimistic. If the storm had missed he'd have been bang on. However... (Is is possible to resurrect the 2005 thread from the archives to see if I'm right?) Haven't I noticed your contributions somewhere else?
  3. Hey, WoW Calm and collected as usual, I see....
  4. Especially these bits from the last update... This is good news, yes?
  5. Glastofestivalforecast updated too. The Weather Doc seems to enjoying the "services" provided by Netweather...
  6. Not great prospects at the moment, but thanks for the forecast, hopefully it might improve. One criticism though, the span of your forecast. Glastonbury is no longer a 3 day event day event. All of the 25,000 extra attendees for this this year will be arriving on Wednesday 20th and many of the minor stages will have stuff going on from Thursday. I'm sure I read somewhere that getting on for 50% of ticket holders arrive on the Wednesday (this rings true from my experience), so all in all, there is likely to be 100,000 people plus there from Wednesday 20th. Also, the site will still be full on the Monday morning and for a large part of the day. So, if your forecast only runs from Friday to Sunday, it will only really be 50% of a forecast, if you see what I mean... Put that right and you'll be a bit more credible than the other forecasters out there (with the exception of Glastofestivalforecast of course)
  7. Just seen this http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=...e=monthly;sess=. Doesn't look very promising for us does it?
  8. Yes, still on efestivals - follow Magma's link. There is a long thread here too. This is where the Glastofestivalforecast site has sprung from which is being written by Cumulus Hunt (see posts earlier in the thread) and kindly supported by Netweather.
  9. Dumb question: are the temps you are all predicting averages for day and night or what?
  10. I didn't see any rain, just listened to it inside my tent in between the 3 hours of thunder and lightening that was directly overhead, hoping I didn't get struck When it all finished I went back to sleep (Thursday night was 'big'). Was woken about 10am by my sister 'phoning to see if I was OK. She had seen the news reports on the BBC and was worried, but I couldn't understand why. I got up and went for a wander. When I saw the lake that had appeared there were police or firemen in wetsuits searching round the submerged tents. Someone told me they were checking in case someone had drowned in their tent. That was a bit scary. Fortunately everyone was safe. The storm was incredible though, never witnessed anything like it, even abroad. Maybe it seemed worse being in a tent in a field. Anyway, is anyone brave enough to make a prediction for 6 weeks time yet? Dates are 20 - 25 June, Worthy Farm, Pilton, near Glastonbury, Somerset.
  11. The Wednesday and Thursday were seriously hot. My car outside temp thingy said 35c on Wed afternoon. Spent most of Thursday looking for patches of shade. It all went wrong about 5 am on the Friday morning . Too good to last.
  12. In 2005 a lot of people on these boards kindly provided their forecasts for the Glastonbury Festival (original thread seems to have disappeared). Nobody managed to predict the extent of the storm we witnessed... In previous years we have been treated to some great forecasting by Glastoweatherwatch. He's gone on holiday though. So for 2007, the team at Glastofestivalforecast have taken over, led by the Weather Doc himself: "The Glasto Festival Forecast is brought to you by a crack group of ardent weather stalkers, including a translucent red-head with a lifetime's experience in shade-hopping and the Weather Doc (a man with a real life doctorate in something so brainy there isn't space to type it here)." Problem is, I'm not sure they really know what they are doing... Can anyone help out woth a 'proper' forecast? There are a lot of anxious Glastonbury ticket-holders out there. There's already a 15 page thread on here worrying about the weather and another 8 page thread here.
