  1. I have friends heading out to Tignes tonight for their first snow holiday - looks like they'll be getting some good amounts of fresh snow to play with I'm looking forward to lots of great photos from them over the week!
  2. Glad the snow has finally arrived, though we won't be boarding this season we have several groups of friends headed for the alps today who will appreciate the change in weather. Cant wait til our little ones are old enough to strap on some skis!
  3. Wow, I've been to morzine several times and always found the snow low down fairly heavy going and prone to bare patches but to see it completely bare like that is really sad. Let's hope they get a dump soon.
  4. Insane wind speeds.. I can't imagine how terrifying that's going to be on the ground :-(
  5. Terrifiying..The speed that its developed will have surprised everyone, the authorities sound like they're only just starting to take it seriously.
  6. A band of rain about to hit the site looking at the radar.. Might get a little more muddy yet.
  7. Still addicted to this thread despite not going this year (or last) as we had our first child last July.. Still need to know what the weather is going to do and will be watching from the comfort of our sofa wishing I was there.. Hope it's dry and everyone going has a brilliant festival.
  8. Just been out for a run and it was snowing lightly ...very beautiful
  9. Massive flakes here in sheffield and thundersnowing, saw lightning and very quickly heard the thunder. It'll pile up quickly if it carries on like this, probably the heaviest snow I've ever seen atm.
  10. Just started snowing in sheffield... A brief flurry anyway..
  11. Looks like 2 or 3 cms here in hunters Bar, looks fairly wet stuff.. Still coming down slowly but steadily.
  12. Just a dusting here, better than nothing.
  13. Settled really suddenly here and we appear to have a decent covering already.
  14. Snowing at my parents in Totley now, still rain in hunters bar..
  15. The mud is getting flattened down nicely... already dry underfoot between John peel and pyramid stage.. sat on the grass in the hot sunshine at the pyramid now.. as if the rain never happened.. Kind of And Jackone, your efforts at pinning down the forecast is very much appreciated..
  16. Ah it's all good fun anyway, about to see Francois and the Atlas Mountains open the John peel stage, it's really warm in the wind and the sun keeps poking its head out briefly.. The mud is already at the sticky stage so it'll be flattened down and dried out by the end of the day, still grass here at John peel where no-ones been walking.. *waves* to north west
  17. We have shallow mud pretty much everywhere now and I'm sat in my tent listening to light rain on and off at the moment. Hopefully things will clear up now!... some warm sunshine should see the site dry up quickly... or are we in for more rain this morning?
  18. It's been lightly raining with occasional heavier periods for a couple of hours on site now.. any idea how much longer it will last? it's not muddy yet but it would be good if it stopped soon! (already in my wellies tho).
  19. I'm pretty hopeful... it sounds like a good forecast to me. As long as its not raining during the festival it will be mainly dry underfoot.. the ground conditions do improve so quickly.
  20. I think this is my 13th or 14th Glastonbury.. hoping for a baking hot one for a change... I always remember them through rose tinted glasses and take all my photos on the sunny days which reinforces my overly postive view of previous festivals but it feels like its been a while since we had a totally dry one so that would be nice! Looking forward to following this thread, biting my nails and doing sun dances over the next few weeks! Thanks again for the forecasts Jackone. You cover my two favourite topics - the snow in the Alps and the sunshine (or lack of) at Glastonbury!
  21. Very kind of you I have about 4 similar shots to that, they're taken on my iPhone 4S so not sure if they'll be of decent enough quality to print but I'll have a look at them properly on my laptop later and see.
  22. We got the train out to Hathersage today to go for a wander in the snow, really glad we did, the snow was amazing out there, huge 6ft drifts right across main roads and some beautiful sculpted snow. Went up on to Stannage edge which was wild with a constant gale blowing snow over the edge... not seen that much snow since I was about 7 and the council had to get snow blowers out . Don't think I've had that much fun in ages, totally exhausted now from jumping in drifts bigger than me and wading through thigh deep powder for hours.. Some photos, hopefully not too huge.
