  1. It's pretty warm here in Westendorf, but remarkably the snow is for the most part in amazing condition so far. Kind of surreal boarding down through fluffy powder with an extremely warm breeze blowing (the foehn I presume). There are a few pistes that have suffered and have a bare patch or two but the vast majority pistes are perfect. Shame we aren't going to have a powder day but I'm happy enough with dry and sunny.
  2. I've been to Avoriaz twice, Morzine was slushy so we stayed up in Avoriaz most of the time. Only ever been rained on once, in Alpe D'Huez, boarded down from higher up into rain... got straight back on a lift and didn't come down til it had stopped! ick! really hope the forecasts change a bit as it looks like I could have my second experience of rain in Westendorf next week! I've packed my trail shoes and waterproofs incase I need to go running to distract myself from the poor boarding conditions
  3. Looks like its going to warm up for my week away in Westendorf Disappointing after the epic snowfall and cold temps we've had recently.. but having said that I prefer slushy spring snow to ice any day Not sure I'd book such a low resort again tho... I prefer being up the mountain! I really don't like getting rained on!
  4. Just 12 days til we go to Westendorf.. just been looking on the webcams and it looks beautiful.. seriously excited!... thanks for the forecasts Jackone much appreciated.
  5. Nice to see Westendorf snow depths improve Just three weeks til we go.. lots of friends have been away already and posted amazing videos of knee deep powder in Ischgl and Sauze D'Oulx... looks like its been a great season so far in most places...
  6. Had a fantastic day snowboarding, igloo building and snowball fighting in meersbrook park.. hope we do get some more
  7. There's definitely only been an extra 4 or 5cms here overnight (heeley).. but up at my parents in totley they've had about 10inches apparently.. so fairly large variations within Sheffield.
  8. Doesn't look like a massive amount of fresh snow in Sheffield (heeley anyway) just a few more cms.. still snowing though.
  9. Main roads getting covered here in Sheffield, needs to get heavier though if I'm going to get my snowboard out tomorrow
  10. Aisthorpe Road.. quite steep and very slidey tonight, no one hurt thankfully.
  11. There's just been a 3 car pile up outside my house (one of the steeper roads in Woodseats) so I can attest there's a couple of inches on some roads and its causing problems. When I came home at 5pm it was slushy on chesterfield road.
  12. Yes I'd heard it seems to do well despite its low level so fingers crossed!
  13. We're going to Westendorf in the Ski Welt area of Austria at the start of March.. hoping the depths improve a little! Its the lowest resort I've ever been to so a little nervous about how much snow there'll be.
  14. I'm off to la Plagne this saturday, hoping the weather turns a little colder and we get some fresh snow.. I don't mind slush however.. as long as it doesn't rain while I'm there I'll be happy! Looking like there's a dump mid week, forecast to be snow at the moment so will be keeping my fingers crossed. We had amazing conditions in Val D'Isere mid jan this year.. a huge 75cm dump on the thursday night left us with un pisted powder on most runs.. probably the best conditions I've ever boarded in :-)
  15. Hurray! Looking forward to watching the forecasts as we run up to the festival. I'm doing my annual offering to the rain gods (beautiful new wellies this year!) and hoping for a repeat of last years sunshiny goodness :-)
  16. Had a 31mph gust today! Progress! Still significantly lower than other sheffield stations who reported 42 and 49 mph gusts today. Perhaps they're more exposed than my position which is facing SW on a ridge, in amongst some larger trees and with buildings around.. all of which must have sizable effects.
  17. Recently installed my VP2 and its been fairly stormy a couple of days / nights since then.. but the maxiumum gust I've seen measured is 26.0 mph.. which has been recorded on many occasions, but always exactly 26.0 mph.. PITs weather station which is only a couple of streets away in Sheffield is measuring gusts of 40+ mph .. any ideas? I've updated the firmware on my VP2 to the latest and updated Weather Link / weather display to the latest versions.
  18. Yes, I set it all up ready to be installed a couple of years ago when i bought it then left it in a spare bedroom until this week when I finally got round to sorting it out. Shame I didn't think to replace the battery before I got my boyfriend to install it up a huge scaffolding pole!
  19. Just installed my vantage pro 2 (finally! Its been sitting around the house waiting for the right pole and fixings for years!) It was working fine for about an hour after installation but then started with a low battery message and now its stopped transmitting all together. I'll have to take it all down again to change the battery but was wondering why the solar panel wasnt just powering it... does it need time to store up some energy before it will start re-transmitting? Edit: its just re-started transmitting and reporting low battery. So I guess it did need a little time to store some solar power.
  20. I remember a really hot one around 1999/2000.. can't remember which year but we were sheltering from the heat in some empty yurts in the green fields.. it was too hot to be out and about. I'd love that again :-) This is my 12th year.. most of those years have been mixed weather or very wet! Not many bone dry festivals so I think we're overdue one :-)
  21. Hahaha.. nice one! Nope.. I've got a proper snowboard I'm supposed to be going to the alps this saturday for a week but bit concerned getting to Stansted sat morning might be a nightmare Better get some boarding in while I can!
  22. 12cms here in S8 8RA.. looking amazing out in our lane.. just off to take some photos.. snowboarding in graves park later!
