  1. It's pretty warm here in Westendorf, but remarkably the snow is for the most part in amazing condition so far. Kind of surreal boarding down through fluffy powder with an extremely warm breeze blowing (the foehn I presume).

There are a few pistes that have suffered and have a bare patch or two but the vast majority pistes are perfect. Shame we aren't going to have a powder day but I'm happy enough with dry and sunny.

  2. I've been to Avoriaz twice, Morzine was slushy so we stayed up in Avoriaz most of the time. Only ever been rained on once, in Alpe D'Huez, boarded down from higher up into rain... got straight back on a lift and didn't come down til it had stopped! ick! really hope the forecasts change a bit as it looks like I could have my second experience of rain in Westendorf next week!

I've packed my trail shoes and waterproofs incase I need to go running to distract myself from the poor boarding conditions ;)

  3. I'm off to la Plagne this saturday, hoping the weather turns a little colder and we get some fresh snow.. I don't mind slush however.. as long as it doesn't rain while I'm there I'll be happy! Looking like there's a dump mid week, forecast to be snow at the moment so will be keeping my fingers crossed.

We had amazing conditions in Val D'Isere mid jan this year.. a huge 75cm dump on the thursday night left us with un pisted powder on most runs.. probably the best conditions I've ever boarded in :-)

  4. Recently installed my VP2 and its been fairly stormy a couple of days / nights since then.. but the maxiumum gust I've seen measured is 26.0 mph.. which has been recorded on many occasions, but always exactly 26.0 mph.. PITs weather station which is only a couple of streets away in Sheffield is measuring gusts of 40+ mph .. any ideas?

I've updated the firmware on my VP2 to the latest and updated Weather Link / weather display to the latest versions.

  5. Our Vantage Pro battery eventually dies every couple of years, despite having a solar panel. Has the battery also been sitting around for years?

Yes, I set it all up ready to be installed a couple of years ago when i bought it then left it in a spare bedroom until this week when I finally got round to sorting it out. Shame I didn't think to replace the battery before I got my boyfriend to install it up a huge scaffolding pole!

  6. Just installed my vantage pro 2 (finally! Its been sitting around the house waiting for the right pole and fixings for years!)

It was working fine for about an hour after installation but then started with a low battery message and now its stopped transmitting all together. I'll have to take it all down again to change the battery but was wondering why the solar panel wasnt just powering it... does it need time to store up some energy before it will start re-transmitting?

Edit: its just re-started transmitting and reporting low battery. So I guess it did need a little time to store some solar power.

  7. 95 was a real toaster. I reckon near 30'c

96 was a festival fallow year but I remember it being decent weather late june/july

99 & 2000 were good too, sunny but not as warm

    97,98 & 2005 were wash out years.

My recent Glastonbury's haven't been too bad but it has rained a little at all of them since 2002 as far as I can remember

I remember a really hot one around 1999/2000.. can't remember which year but we were sheltering from the heat in some empty yurts in the green fields.. it was too hot to be out and about. I'd love that again :-)

This is my 12th year.. most of those years have been mixed weather or very wet! Not many bone dry festivals so I think we're overdue one :-)
