Hurray! Nice to hear its snowing already in the Alps. I've not decided where we're going this year but probably 3 valleys for a week and one or possibly two other weeks in other resorts depending on funds. Hope its a good season

Thanks for the update. I'm off to Deux Alpes in 3 weeks time so hoping for some dumps around then. Then Banff in feb and the alps again in March.. I'm sure I'll see some nice fresh stuff at some point

Great shot, where in the Peak District did you see it btw?
I was at home in woodseats looking out over dore and totley towards derbyshire. Not sure how far away it was, I'm rubbish at judging distances!

Caught this over the peak district this afternoon :

Thanks :-)
There's snow forecast for Whistler over the coming week or so.. if we go at the start of Jan for two weeks we're sure to hit some powder days ;-)
I guess we'll see what deals are around after xmas as soon as the travel agents re-open :-) Its a massively different set up to last year when we had xmas / new year booked at Les Arcs in France and there was barely any snow around!! This year is MUCH better!

Is this pattern likely to continue during January? We're currently trying to decide whether to go to Canada (Whistler or Banff) or the Alps (Alpe D'Huez) for a fortnights snowboarding and are wondering which is going to be best for powder conditions :-)

Hows it going???
An EU version is in the post
Fingers crossed its in full working order and there are no issues.
I'll be setting up somewhere near you PIT... I'm moving to Norton this autumn, on the hill overlooking woodseats.

I did and you have to persistant as they'll try and fob you off. They did put me onto Davis directly who rang me back and shipped a replacement foc to me directly. I just had to lie about the reason why I bought it since selling it to me they broke the rules slightly.
Exchange rates were very good recently so I'd go for it.
I'm waiting for them to get back to me about shipping costs and possible extra discounts. They don't seem very efficient but if it means a near half price Vantage Pro2 I'm willing to give them a go.
-
I think Pit did...awful I seem to remember.
He's still kind of recommending them in the "Exchange Rates" thread so they can't be that bad

I'm probably going to order a UK version from CCSI, they ship from Guernsey and use some loophole involving use of the product in mobile homes (?) to get around Davis terms and conditions.
Anyone had a bad experience with CCSI?

Interesting... Has anyone bought the Vantage Pro2 from them?
I was considering buying a US version from one of the companies on eBay who will ship it to the UK as a "gift" to avoid import taxes. But I'm a little concerned about the US version transmitting at the wrong frequency in the UK, don't want to annoy any local amateur radio people!
Weatherstation.net seem to have found a loophole allowing them to ship UK versions at US prices :-)
Sounds like they're shipping from Guernsey?!

Anyone got an opinion on when the euro high might lose its grip? I'm a bit scared for my two week holiday at Les Arcs starting this weekend.. theres no hint of snow on the horizon.. its all looking rather settled
